A tourist arrives in Vancouver on a rainy day. He gets up the next morning and it's still raining. In fact, it's still raining three days later. He goes out to supper and spies a young kid. Out of despair, he asks, "Hey kid, does it ever stop raining around here?" The kid says, "How do I know? I'm only six." http://www.canoe.ca/TravelBC/vancouver_020212-sun.html
I was in Vancouver for a couple of days in 1992. My mom and I were taking an Alaskan cruise that left from there. Believe it or not, it was sunny on both days! I thought it was a beautiful city and I plan to go back for a proper vacation some day. By the way, Canada was featured prominently in this Sunday's Simpsons episode. Homer protested having to visit "America Junior." However Marge was right at home because it was so "clean and bland."
Clean and bland. I guess there are worse things to be. You should plan to drive through the mountains to Calgary, or Banff and Lake Louise anyway. Pole did this tip last year and seemed to really enjoy it. I don't like to brag (well sometimes maybe ) but this place is just outside Banff National Park, about an hour's drive from my home. http://CANMOREALBERTA.COM/gallery/index.html
Mrs. JB, I had a similar experience in London. I went for the first time this summer. My mom's ex lives there, my mom has lived there, and Lynus has been probably 15 times or so. They told us to pack warmish clothes because it would likely be foggy and rainy and cool. We get there, and we were probably there for their entire summer. It was about 80-85 outside and only rained once, which was a drizzle and we were there for 10 days. They all said how bizzare it was. I was actually looking forward to getting away from Houston weather, but it seemed to follow us!
I've decided that I'm a misplaced Canadian. I was looking through archived e-mails a week or so ago for something business related, and I found an e-mail confirmation from a Canadian bed and breakfast that my wife and I stayed at during our honeymoon in 2000. My eyes got a little misty. I miss home.
