Who are the centers in the west? Yao will get voted in, as usual.

    fan voting.

chinese voting will put Yao in, and maybe another Rocket.

for the east you'll see LBJ/Bosh/Wade all starters.

I did a detailed statistical analysis and came to the conclusion that we will have 6 all-stars this year.

Scola, playing a full year without Landry, may surprise.

Then again if he defers to Yao and/or Miller he might stay about the same.

Yao will get the most votes if he's on the ballot, even if he's not fit :p

I think the fan part was implied. The Chinese fans a alone are enough to put yao in all-star game. I ****ing love the Chinese fan. I hope Yao retires a Rocket and buys some of the team. So the Chinese love the Rockets for eternity!

If Yao is healthy, there is no competition for him. He is undeniably the best center in the West. The only way I can even imagine that changing is if DeMarcus Cousins defies all expectations and just blows up for 20 and 10. And really, even that isn't enough to dethrone Yao. DeMarcus Cousins won't have China voting for him.

To be fair though, it's not like Yao hasn't deserved to get voted in. He has been one of the best centers in the West. Just because he was going to get voted in anyway, doesn't mean any less to earning it. But yes, yes I understand that him getting voted in, even if say he had played a handful of games(for example) so far that season is unfair to others.

K-Mart will win an all-star spot based on the China vote alone.

T-Mac was almost selected for the all-star game based on the China vote, until he asked fans to stop voting for him.

Let's see, Amar'e and Boozer left the West. So any competition for Yao/Scola is:
    Gasol bros.
    Jefferson
    maybe Duncan
    maybe Bynum
Yao should get in, since most of the above are probably going to be playing forward
Unless Scola has a huge year, I don't think he'll get in. I also don't think Ariza will get in since he has to go against Melo, Durant, and look for Hedo to inflate his stats while playing with Nash.
Brooks and Martin will be going against:
    CP3
    Kobe
    Nash
    maybe Evans

Look for either Martin or Brooks to make the All-Star team.

Every year leading up to the Allstar break we have to endure the age old myth about the "Chinese vote" ...and every year this myth gets smacked down.

...for example, Yao is always the leader of paper ballets submitted (ie not including the internet votes).

I didn't think we'd have to get started on debunking the Yao all-star voting myth in July.
