I think so, otherwise how can we explain China's double digits GDP growth every year since Yao was drafted by Houston.
I've read an article awhile back somewhere that only a small amount go to the government of China... The majority goes to the U.S. government. I'll try to find the link.
sorry, sir. I have to come in to give a one-star for that title. You don't need a thread for that simple question, "serious"ly.
Yao pays a very small amount to the Chinese national basketball agency/program. He pays slightly more than 1/3 of his income to the US Federal government.
I also want to know this question. I know for sure he had to for his rookie contract, but I don't know if he still has to with his newer contract.
35% to uncle sam. like 5 percent to his agent or something. That 50% thing was negotiations with his cba team back before he got here. Sorta like a buy out thing. i think it got negotiated to be less and also it was only for his rookie contract. Not very sure on the details.
why does it matter? i bet most of yao's incomes r from endorsement (shoe, credit card etc) i read once from gilbert arenas blog a 100 mill contract after tax, agent and all the other stuffs turns out only to be 20-30 mill for the player.
Damn this is why I wanna be in the NBA player's business. The entourage of people around an NBA star earn money off him like there's no tomorrow. As long as you are an NBA star's agent, accountant, publicist, off season trainer, nutritionist, or heck, even the dude who washes his cars...you can earn easy money.
Great point, between, the US, State, and Local Governments it is definitely more than 50%... We won't talk about the money agents rob them off anually.
