Hey guys, I just joined the forum for the sole reason that I am a HUGE Moochie Norris fan. I know he had a bad season, but it sounds like every single person hates him rabidly now, and doesn't remember what he's done in the past. Hey, bad year's like Moochies this year happen, he could very well bounce back next season, realising that he has to in order to stay in the NBA. Any player that has hit about a million clutch shots, like Moochie, I'm not giving up on, cause we owe it to him to stick with him. I guess I just want to know is there anyone who still has love for Moochie apart from Bill Simmons and I???

    I dont hate Moochie.

But I honestly think he emulates the moves of this guy to dribble the ball upcourt.

Yup. Pretty much everyone around here hates Moochie. I am more indifferent towards him than others.

Moochie's problem is the exact same problem that Steve and Cat have. Decision making. He is indecisive with the ball, makes poor decisions (usually while up in the air with no place to go) and takes too long to even make that decision (dribbles too much)and tends to leave the team fighting the shot clock.

That being said, I think Moochie is a perfectly fine backup in limited minutes (around 10 a game). When Moochie is having to play 20+ or a 3 guard lineup alongside Steve and Cuttino, then his indiscretions are greatly magnified. However, Moochie does a decent job on D (not saying he is good, but he usually gives more of an effort than Steve does), can be good distributor when he is focused and perhaps his greatest asset, is the fact that he is not afraid to come through in the clutch when needed (Moochie has quite a few game tying/game winning shots on his resume).

In the end, I think the new coach will realize this and along with the addition of a veteran guard, we should see Moo's minutes drop to where they should be (10 mins a game).

I think that if Moochie gets into better shape and re-thinks his attitude towards the game, he can be a good backup PG.

Right now, he thinks he's a main cog in the ROckets system. He thinks he's part of the "best backcourt". He thinks he's something.

He doesn't realize that he's absolutely meaningless in the Rockets plans, and the only way he's useful is if he comes into the game and works harder than everyone else on the court, while doing exactly what the coaches say he should.

I was in a grocery store last year, and there were these two older ladies, one of whom had a huge 'Fro, and she was wearing a T-Shirt that said " I Am Moochie's Mom!" Assuming she was very proud of the fact, i went up to her, explained I was a Rockets fan, and she looked at me and said " I'm so sorry."

I asked her what she meant. She answered " I'm sorry that you have to be stuck watching my good for nutin' last-second shot chuckin' dribble till Armageddon a$$-clown of a son. "

So I asked why, if she felt that way, did she wear the shirt... She sighed, looked up at the ceiling ( so I thought ) and responded simply " Penance."

    I said, "Mrs. Norris, surely you're not to blame. A mother can't control what her son does." And she looked back down at me with the saddest eyes I have ever seen, and said;

" No. It's not that he's my son. My penance is for something much worse. You see, I taught him how to dribble."

So in answer to your question, wp, yes, everyone hates Moochie.

    not an actual event.

He is an average backup PG who you can find EVERY YEAR in the 2nd round of the draft or in free agency to cost you 500k or less. I hate the money he makes and I think it was a HUGE blunder by Rudt T and of course CD whois still a part of this team unfortuantely!

Dont hate him at all. I dislike his contract, his basketball IQ, his overall skills, the way he runs the offense, and wish he was either on another team or had about 1/3 of the contract he has.

Moochie Norris had a good year two years ago, then he got paid, and quit. That's why I don't like him.

I still like Moochie. I hate the contract he was given. Same for MoT, Cato, Rice. If all those guys had reasonable contracts befitting backup players noone would complain. Beyond money the other part of the contract -length- is "horrible" (think BW voice). Mooch will be 34 when his contract ends. Most starting point guards become unproductive at 32. His contract is too high and too long.

Since Moochie got his contract he has done the - I've got the fat paycheck I can quit improving - attitude.

Take a look at his freethrow percentage - it has gone down every year with the Rockets.

His stats have consistently been going down except for turnovers.

Personally Moochie is such an insignificant player that I can't say I hate him or like it. I mean if he didn't where that big fro half the time, would any of us have ever noticed him?

Hate is too strong a word. However abhor and loathe are other words that come to mind when discussing Moochie's skills and contract.

Moochie is a serviceable #4-5 guard who is much more a CURIOSITY than an IMPACT player.

His only noticeble IMPACT to date is making holes in the court by dribbling incessantly:D ;)

To the youngsters of the BBS. When your parents say that you should be realistic about your dreams to be a profesional basketball player. Give them two words "moochie norris". How can they argue that logic?

Hell yes, we'd notice him. He may be an insignificant player, but he doesn't play an insignificant position. He's our third guard. A team need to have a third guard to come in and be a solid contributer, so the starters can get some rest. Steve and Cat play 42 minutes a game because Moochie sucks so bad we have to keep his minutes at a minimum.

We have 4 bad contracts on this team: Rice, Cato, MoT, and Moochie. I don't feel too bad about Rice, Cato, or MoT because even if they are overpaid, they are solid contributers. Moochie is not.
