I've been a big Caron Butler fan since he arrived on the college scene two years ago. I remember him tearing up the coogs in one of his first college games and i have been impressed with him ever since.

That said, i think he's gone from one of the most underrated players in the college game to a slightly overrated draft pick. Don't get me wrong, i think he'll be a solid pro. But i just question how well his game will translate to the nba small forward position. At 6,6 is he going to be able to match up against bigger 3's? I have feeling that after a few years and some more development, his best position will be the 2. Worse case scenerio, I fear he might be a classic tweener. Not quite big enough to play the 3, and without the perimeter skills or quite the quickness to play the 2.

    What do yall think?

The camp measurements posted in another thread put him at 6'5 1/4" without shoes. However, his wingspan was superwide (6' 11 1/2").

    Absolutely.

Interestingly, the player Butler's compared to the most, Paul Pierce, plays quite a bit at SF, and he's a little effective wouldn't you say.

Bigger SFs? He wil have an advantage in quickness.

Don't ever underestimate talented, tough players, even if they are a little 'undersized.'

As my football coach used to say -

You are only too small when you are not good enough.

That team would be way to young. 2 starting rookies and a 2nd year player is not going to win you many games. Unless Ming is a All-Star in his first year than we will be back in the lottery with that lineup.

 Did "LIVE" really compare C Butler to Paul Pierce???????? Hell, I guess I missed something! Butler is the second coming of Pierce???

Please, be real. There's a "slight" difference in the two. Check these depts (college stats):

    1. FG%
    2. Reb/game
    3. Assists/game
    4. Teams FG%
    5. Intangibles (team W-L, etc.)
