Does anyone know what our free agents are thinking?

    All we've been hearing is "Will Hakeem stay or leave" I know that the Rockets want to keep all there free agents, and the Hakeem situation is making it more difficult to do that. But does anybody know if the Rockets, are our free agents 1st choice? Excluding Dream?

    Is that why Dream is being lowballed? B/c the dollars have already been promised elsewhere?

    I sure hope Dawson hasn't overcommitted to Motay and Shan.

    If I were the Rockets at this point, I would simply sign the rest of our FAs and say to Hakeem, "This is what we have left. Take it or leave it." Hakeem was the one who wanted initially said that he wanted the Rockets to sign everyone from last year.

    I've managed to find the exclusive on what each of our free agents is currently thinking:

    Mo Taylor: "Get out of town Dream."

    Moochie: "Damn, my 'fro looks fine today."

    Bullard: "Should I use a 7 or 8 iron here?"

    Shandon: "Somebody wake me when the season starts and let me know where to report."

    Hakeem: "I gotta make more than Cato next season...there has to be a way to make it happen."

    The Rockets cannot promise ANYTHING to them until the Hakeem deal is final. Remember the Juwan Howard free agent signing in Miami that was nullified by the NBA because they found that Miami agreed with Mourning prior to Howard? Basically, they found that by agreeing with Mourning verbally, it was the same as using their cap space, therefore they couldn't sign Howard because the cap space was gone.

    There is NO WAY the Rockets would jeopardize that.

    My best guess is that the Rockets have had preliminary discussions and said, "We will probably have X available for you after we sign Dream or if he leaves." It is highly doubtful that there are agreements in place. In fact, I'd say it is a 100% certainty since the Rockets know how hard the league is coming down on salry cap violaters (see Minnesota).

    The Rockets know how much they can offer Dream and still have enough left over for the others. I would say it is a near certainty that Norris, Anderson, Taylor and Bullard will be back or you would be hearing MUCH more about them in the rumor mill. They wouldn't be this quiet for this long if they were on the open market.

    They seem to have made up their minds to stay. All of them have said in the press that they wouldn't make a move until they heard from the Rockets. That seems to be the case here.
