I know about ppo and hmo, but what is a Epo. It seems to have a great in network coverage, but how does it work with emergencies. I don't trust talking with blue cross or the benefits people.

Does anyone have real experience with an EPO. Is it ok.

The price is pretty comparable to a ppo.

An EPO (Exclusive Provider Organization) is kind of a mix between a HMO and PPO. It has a stricter network like a HMO but can have out-of-network benefits similar to a PPO. If you currently have a doctor and/or specialist you use now for you and your family, be sure the provider is in the EPO network.

For emergency care, this should be a non-issue since all emergency care should be covered the same whether the ER facility is in-network or out-of-network. And with health care reform mandates, ER care can not be covered differently.

And I do not work for BCBS or any insurance company but am in the HR Consulting industry. Hope this little bit of information helps.

I was gonna say Manny Pacquiao probably does, but this isn't the same thing. Moving on.
