I was thinking of downloading some sort of web accelerator for my home dial-up (preferably a free one) and I was wondering if anyone here uses one. Several ISPs offer them like AOL, Net Zero, EV1, etc. (mine doesn’t). Anyways I was wondering what you guys thought of the service particularly if you got one from a second party like Propel or Web Jet. I understand it doesn’t help with music files or other things like that, but it can compress jpegs etc. making dial-ups a little more tolerable. thanks.
I had Web Jet for EV1, and the only thing it really did was make pages with images on them load faster by making the images blurry. Other than that it doesn't do much.
I downloaded this for my parents who use EV1 and I noticed nothing different in the speeds. You couldn't pay me to go back to dial-up.
