I play a game that is basically spades except you change out the trump card based on the leader at that time. Most Iranians and middle easterners have a game that is basically the same thing with minor changes.
Not sure if you're serious but I played spades for the first time while I was in juve back in the day.

am i reading the rules right? spades are basically the trump cards. ranking of cards is ace-highest down to 2-lowest. before you play you look at your 13 cards and decide how many turns you can win. if you dont think you can win any, you say nil. but the main objective is to get the amount of turns you said you would get or more? that right?

Basically, but the game goes a lot deeper than that when you get more experience Bags, paying attention to what has been played, cutting with spades, reading your partners hand as well as reading the opponents.Million different possibilities. It's an awesome game.
could you explain, i know theres something about if you call nil, you get points if you actually get none, but if you do get some you lose points or something?
"Bid nil" you lose the amount of points you would've gained depending on what value nil has in a certain game. If your partner makes his say 3 bid he'll get 30 points and depending on what the value of nil is usually 100 you'd end up with a negative 70 hand together. If you wanna play Ill show you
