Does anyone hate the fact that Yao is always at the top of the key??

Enough of the high screen rolls......Yao should just plant himself on the low block and let the offense flow through him.......

I think it's just one play to get him out of the double coverage in the paint. They also had him far out of the paint on the sides. But it does seem like a poor usage of assets.

Rudy does it to mix things up. There is nothing wrong with Yao setting a few picks for a pick and roll. Since he is showing he can knock down the 18 footer, it totally messes up a defense when the guy that is 7-6 pulls the opposing teams' center that far from the basket.

    Variety is a good thing!

I have also noticed a lot of teams (Celtics last night, good example) who are fronting Yao when he is on the low block. I don't know if we have a GOOD passer into the post, so maybe its best not to take the chance at a turnover and just move the ball to the weakside.

I do agree with you JH, he doesn't get the ball enough when he is at the low post, but I guess that is better than throwing the ball to the other team (which the Rox do on occasion).

I think if he could he would. They aren't letting him down there.

Without the illegal defense rule, teams can double team Yao w/o the ball. "Planting" himself on the low block is a sure way that he won't get to touch the ball. He has to move around to loosen up the defense.

I wouldnt mind the high post offense as much if Yao was a threat,. Most teams that run a high post offense have a center who can shoot. Not saying Yao can shoot, because he can, but ive only seen him take 1 or 2 shots from up there no matter how open. I dont want him to take a shot everytime, but one of the #1 fundamentals of basketball, is to always be a threat. If yao isnt going to at least face up, then put his ass on the block RUdy!!!

What I hate is Cat not passing to anybody but Francis. If he gets it, you know what he is going to do with it!

OK, I'll defend Cat here but I think Rudy made him, last night versus Boston, three set plays in a row he made a no look pass to TMo in the corner for two or three scores in a row. I think when he has to think for himself or ISO it isn't very pretty.
