I never bothered to become a verified member. Now I've spent my original amount and they are requiring me to become verified by providing a bank account. Is that really safe?
I used it for the first time during the selling of the Smeg shirts. Everyone that paid me that way got their money to me easily, which I then was able to transfer to my bank account. No problems at all.
The only thing that sucks are their fees. They start to add up. It's free to send the money, but when you receive money they take a little cut.
I have used it over 500 times through my Ebay transactions. Easy. Safe. The best thing out there. Owned by Ebay so you know its golden. DD
Is there any harm in not keeping funds in your account, but just having them charge your credit card whenever needed? I'm not planning on using my account very much, probably once every couple of months only.
I've used it about 20 times as well. I was just wondering why they needed a bank account? If I just want to send money, shouldn't a credit card be enough? When I recieve money they can just keep it in my account on paypal. Or am I missing something? I was not really interested in transferring money to my bank account anyways.
That's exactly how I use it too. There are a few ebays dorks that will only take paypal from verified accounts but they are few and far between.
That's good to hear that PayPal is reliable. I'm starting up a business and have a PalPay membership and was going to use the PayPal account and shopping cards, etc., to run my business. I was kind of hesitant, but you guys have eased my mind!
NOTE: PayPal takes 2% of every payment you receive. Sending money does not incur a fee. For the record, I love PayPal. I've got over $250 in my account. It's the easiest form of payment to get (well, besides cash) and the easiest to pay with. It's fast and reliable. It makes doing business on EBay so much better.
Don't keep money in your paypal account. Only transfer funds into it when you make a purchase. If you're using ebay it's pretty safe but I've known a couple of people that got kind of screwed when they sold stuff to people from other auction sites and then after the other person recieved the merchandise they would call their bank and say it was a fraudulent transaction so paypal would give the person their money back and essentially the seller would be SOL. But paypal can't give them the funds back if they aren't in the paypal account anymore.
