Does anyone else just see Yao getting in foul trouble every game this series?

Pau is guarding him and he is going to flop around like a rag doll with any kind of aggression Yao exerts.

Refs are going to see Pau flop and over exaggerate and blow the whistle. I just see Yao getting in foul trouble A LOT

    I dont know about that.

But I can definitely see refs putting their handprints on a few games if theyre close down the stretch.

I do see it as a danger. Gasol is floptastic but I hope that we'll have some decent refs that will see through that.

I wouldnt bet on seeing any more than 1 or 2 flops called per game this series. I would however bet that we wont be seeing as many angry Laker fans when their players charge into a straight up Yao because in this series, the refs will suddenly forget the progress they had made over the last year and a half on calling Yao's defense.

It wont be the flops, it will be where he has legit position and is straight vertical where the refs will screw Yao this series.

I'm not worried about what is outside of our control (ie, pau flops)

I'm more worried about lazy passes that lead to fast-break points. Also worried about bad shooting.

Let's hope not otherwise LA can bring out the brooms.

I think, as evidenced by the Portland series, the officials are slowly starting to respect Yao more. You almost have to when teams try this fronting approach. 90% of the time there's body-to-body contact on EVERY position so are you really going to risk fouling out a superstar that's simply trying everything legally possible to obtain position and get around his defender?

That's all Yao is doing whenever he gets fronted. He's not bullying anybody or knocking anybody out of the way, he's merely just fighting to overcome what USED to be an illegal defense in order to obtain position.

Maybe the officials are starting to realize this now?

Pau is starting at Power Forward, not Center. Andrew Bynum gets the unenviable task of trying to contain Yao, at least at first. That being said, I don't think Pau will be any worse than Pryzbilla or Scola, and neither of them really got a lot of their flops called.

Undercover Brother is good for two quick whistles on either Scola or Yao. I have a feeling Yao is going to get some decent officiating but Scola is going to get a raw deal vs. Gasol. Like Gasol needs any help against Scola

I am more concerned that Kobe will beat his defender and then throw his body at Yao, it will be a foul against Yao 90% times. I really do not know what Yao should do in that situation? Just run away and give Kobe an open layup?

In the Portland series, there was a phantom offensive foul called on Yao. I guessed it was Tony Brothers and sure enough, it was.

    Oi... that guy...
