When it first came into exsistence(1999?) I was kinda interested in the WNBA b/c it will do great for woman's basketball and I dunno...maybe to check out on the woman? After watching some games I came to conclusion it is the most boring things to watch. Its slow, sloppy,no energy and will wear on you the longer you watch. It does not have the business luxury and fanbase of the NBA and I think it won't survive unfortunately. Something needs to be done soon or its distinction will become a reality. The only thing I could think of are more worldwide promotion on the players not name lisa Leslie...I admit there's lot of good players when I used to watch the game, but those player never get any exposure. I mean, how are you gonna get the fans to watch if they think there's only a couple of good players? Put more excitement into the games by letting them play!! I swear, they get foul calls like almost every possession and most of them are non-calls...those refs need to stop blowing them wistle so much. The other thing that kinda bug me are those garments the woman wear, they're big, baggy and ugly and it makes the woman less attractive. I mean those are like what the men wears. If you look at other sports woman tend to wear something that is appealing and attractive such as tennis, vollyball, golf etc...so why not basketball? Lets be honest hear more people would watch if all the above can be fix. What do you guys think?
I watch the WNBA. I'm a big Yolanda Griffith fan... I gotta say that I think Griffith hustles more than anybody in the WNBA or NBA. She's getting older now, but she was unreal when she was younger. I wouldn't change it. It's a fun time. Not as much fun as an NBA game, true, but the trade-off is the tickets are actually affordable.
I started watching some WNBA this summer. Watched some games from Detroit, Houston, LA, Seattle. The games are pretty competitive. The player skills are inferior to NBA stars of course, but some of the players are really good. Steve Cash, L Jackson, Sue Bird, Dianna Taurassi, etc. Some of the teams even play better than Clippers/Orlando for goodness sake. Besides, you can also follow the L Jackson nude pictures in magazine story like that. I wish they could change the uniforms thought to make it more attractive, just like bicyle and tennis. Some of players don't even look bad in the commerical that was always running. Imagine a Maria Sharapova in WNBA!
whats the WNBA? haha j.k I watched a few games but didnt really find it that exciting to watch. I thought you would see more fundamentally sound BB and great offensive sets blah blah blah.. no it seems more like Mens HS BB than anything else to me. *with longer hair. Is WNBA even on TV? J
I try to catch a few Comets game every now and then. Most of the women in the WNBA aren't very good, but there are quite a few who could probably ball will some NBA teams. Sheryl Swoopes is amazing, and Tina Thompson is the Rasheed Wallace(playing style, not mouth) of the game. Cod
WNBA may possibly me the most boring sporting event on tv. I think I would rather watch a duck hunt or woman's fishing.
I don't mind the WNBA...I just don't like it when I turn on 610 and the game is on. I want to hear about real sports...
there was a Maria Stepanova, who was a 19 year old blonde Russian when she entered the league but she got pregnant and is back in Russia raising her kid. She hasn't been in the league for 3 years but she'll play for the Russian Olympic team this summer.
I watch the WNBA. Not religiously, but I watch. Basketball is basketball and it's a beautiful, rhythmic game. Golf, soccer, hunting, fishing, NASCAR, hockey, and pro football are far more boring to me. So is pro wrestling if you can even call it "sport".
I think I've seen on the duece, but I never stop long enough to know if its really there or just me dreaming
I watched it a few times when the league first started. There was a lot of hype here in SLC because the Jazz had just gone to the NBA Finals and once summer came around there were no major sports in the area. So they pimped it out as basically the Utah Jazz of summer. Only problem however was that Utah actually WON games, the Utah Starzz never really did. The last real WNBA game I watched was the Utah Starzz, LA Sparks NBA playoff game, when the Starzz upset the Sparks and advanced in the playoffs. Of course the Starzz moved to San Antonio and so now I really don't give a flying **** about the WNBA. Not that I did anyway. Oh and what a lame name the Starzz had! I mean I could see playing homage to the old Utah Stars of the ABA, but WTF is up with the damn double Zs?
I'm always tricked by the WNBA. As I'm flipping through the channels, I'll get excited when I see the Toyota Center floor, Madison Square Garden, Staples Center, etc. "Yes! Basketball is on!" But that split-second of excitement is extinguished the moment I recognize that women are on the court.
