Does anybody know what TV station the Rockets will be on? Last year they were on UPN 20. I hope they stay on that network. The preseason is about 3 weeks or less away so we should be finding out pretty soon. I was just wondering if anybody knows something we dont about which station the Rockets are leaning to. I can't wait to hear Bill and Calvin call the games this season. Those guys are hilarious. They really make it more enjoyable to watch the game.

That information has not been announced. It is believed there are two contenders (20 KTXH, and 51 KNWS) in this market.

The Rockets have a history of taking over-the-air TV negotiations down to the last minute. Expect this one to be similar.

I wish Fox would carrry all the games- at least away games. I cannot get UPN of 51 in Beaumont...

If I remember rightly, they left UPN last year for 51 but didn't like the service they got and returned to UPN. So, I don't think they'll go back to 51 anytime soon.

They were on ch. 55 the Tube. The reception was HORRIBLE so they moved it back to upn 20.

I hope it's UPN. I've seen it on WB and I don't like 51. Besides, the reception is best on UPN.

Reception doesnt bother me, because I have cable. But for some f***ed up reason, my cable (TV Max, I cant get Time Warner) doesnt carry 51, so Im praying for 20.

I heard recently that Rockets are close to completing a new TV deal for away games. The home games will be on Fox Sports SW.

The away games will either be on 20 or 51 (KNWS), but I don't know which. They are keeping that quiet until the deal is done.

Given that it is done this soon, I would speculate that KNWS has the inside track. The reason I say that is because I get the sense that KNWS may have offered the moon to the Rockets as a way to help bolster them as a station. UPN20, while a great station, will still have significant conflicts with network programming and very likely wouldn't broadcast every game.

But, in all honesty, I have no idea who they'll choose at this point. I'm just glad it is getting done before the season! Remember in 1997 when they signed the tv deal with FSSW like an hour before the first game??? What a nightmare.

I would tend to agree that 51 has the inside track. KTXH is now owned by FOX, which is perhaps a more significant roadblock than the UPN affiliation. Given the Comets situation, my guess is that it became KNWS' contest to lose.

If it does go that way, I hope the "must carry" issues can get settled, so the games will be available from all the cable and satellite providers.
