I know there are many here that support tanking, in varying degrees of extremity, but aside from that argument which has been done to death, does anyone see Alston's play in the last several games as being a concern, or more precisely, representative of someone who might not have the heart of a champion?

I personally have been a proponent of his, and welcomed him readily. I think he has the skills we've needed at guard for a long time, especially with the chemistry of our current team (when healthy), but watching his play of late, and especially in the last few games, I wonder if he has the right attitude to be part of what we hope will be eventual greatness (sooner than later, preferrably) of this Rockets team.

When you say "of late", do you mean like the last 4 years or so?

Well, considering that Alston has been forced, out of necessity, to have to take on more of a scoring role, which is not his best skill-set, I would answer you question with a 'Let's see how he does with everyone healthy, including himself, next year.'

    Good one.

I think the point, and the perspective, was self explanatory.

Alston needs a strong supporting cast around him and then you will see his value...when a pass point guard is surrounded by an offensively talented cast, he will succeed, unlike a ball hogging offensively minded mike james who took away shots from tmac and yao

    haha jk

    alston sux!!!

I'm not saying was he worth trading for in terms of basic abilities, I'm asking does his apparent dropping off the map, making bad decisions, and going like 10% over the last week, make you think he's a quitter.

    Nope.

Rockets judgment that, he is a starting material for a team which would aspire to win a championship, does concern me though.

A quitter??? Um, HOW many minutes did he play last night?

Heck, I would probably not choose to Have Alston as the one guy I would pick to have the ball in his hands for a last-second game-winning clutch shot, true, but one thing I have not seen from him is a lack of effort, or lack of desire. The guy is pure gym rat.

Ever think he may just be really tired? You don't have your legs fresh, it is awfully hard to consistently sink shots. No, don't worry about Alston's drive and desire. Just hope that he spends his offseason practicing his free-throws.

Same goes for Hayes, dang it. Grr, what an ugly charity technique THAT guy has! Hehe .. I love Hayes, but man, he needs to have some electric-shock therapy to his testicles while he shoots free throws, he should get a major zap every time he fails to use proper form. All summer long, ZAP ZAP ZAP, maybe then he will learn how to shoot! hehehe

Seems like since it's been OVER that his decision making, which COULD be translated as a committment (Did you watch him dribble out the clock? I don't attribute that to being tired).

Hey look, I agree, he might not be the BEST PG in the world, and he is out of his element with all of our issues, and I'm not saying he doesn't put the time in off the court. BUT he's been better than this, regardless... the timing, to me, is somewhat suspect, and I wondered what others thought.

Nope, not for one bit. Actually he is doing his best to help us for a higher draft pick. Why should I concern that?

Wait until next season starts, if he STILL is our starting PG, now that is a concern.

Well, aside from the last few games, I'd disagree to a certain extent. Again, maybe he's not the Number one PG in the NBA, but he did fit well with TMAC, Yao, and the rest when all were healthy (what was that, like 20 games?)

Did no one else find his antics in the last few seconds last night.... hard to stomach?

No, if he is our starting PG next season, he will push 10 assists a game. :D

No PG can produce all that much when you only have one player that can consistently put the ball in the basket, period.

nooooo man... r u serious ??? it's not a concern at all ... he is the best PG in the league .. he is better than Parker.. didn't you see his AND1 moves... plus that is what we needed. I "pass first" PG who can brick shots, do 5-6 turnovers a game, suck so bad, cant make an entry pass worth a crap, cant make a dang shot to save his ***.. again...congratulations for the guys who said things like: "MIKE JAMES SUCKS, WE NEED A PASS 1ST PG, ALSTON IS A GOOD STARTING PG, ALSTON IS A TRUE PG".. there Y'all have it .. the worst PG in the league and we are stuck with him forever.. and we didn't trade Rybo to get him, we traded MJ for him...

I'll give rafer a pass this year before I judge him because he had to adapt to a new coach and injuries to the core of this team. Having said that, Mike James would have been better suited for us this year because we needed more leadership, heart, & the ability to score from the point position since tmac has been out.

Next year, if everyone is healthy and Rafer still performs bad, then i'll be pissed and i'll say he sucks or something like that.

    I don't like the dude..

seems like every time he passes to Ryan Bowen, Bowen misses the shot...
