ATLANTA -- Gary Sheffield was traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday for Brian Jordan, pitcher Odalis Perez and a minor league pitcher. The Braves had struggled to find an offensive complement to Chipper Jones the past two seasons, while the Dodgers had to deal with repeated complaints from an unhappy Sheffield. Jordan hit .295 with 25 home runs and 97 RBI last season. Perez, a left-hander projected to be Atlanta's fifth starter, was 7-8 with a 4.91 ERA in 2001. Sheffield hit .311 with 36 home runs and 100 RBI last season. The minor leaguer sent to the Dodgers from the Braves was right-hander Andy Brown, who was 3-4 with a 3-4 ERA with Class A Jamestown last season.
i'm not sure what i think about this as an astros fan...just a few thoughts... 1. jordan was an astro-killer...nice to not see him in a braves uniform 2. sheffield is a very, very good offensive player 3. sheffield is a clubhouse cancer...something the braves usually try to avoid. my hope is he'll wreck them with his jackass mentality...
