phenomenal story of the Paskowitz family, the "first family of surfing". the patriarch, "Doc" Paskowitz, left behind the romanticized american dream to pursue the one created by himself, dragging with him his wife and 9 children, in a 24-foot camper, through beaches all over the americas, and shunning conventional society and the school system along the way. easily in the top 5 documentaries i've ever seen. hilarious, eccentric, heartbreaking, shocking, uplifting...all in 90 short minutes. i can't recommend this highly enough. not sure how long it's playing, but it's at the Angelika right now. check it out on dvd if you miss it.
