Ok, this is the 2nd review I've written. This movie was so badass, I went overboard with the  smillies and couldn't post my thread. Of course, I hit the back button only to fined expired pages. Then I passed out. Didn't wake up til 11, but I had to take care of some school stuff.

This movie kicks ass. I mean, major ass. I'm a little worried because Chance has got is son with him, and when that boy walks out of X2, the first policeman who see's him is gonna think Chance did it. But it will be ok, because Chance jr is gonna say "no mista puwice officer, it wasn't my daddy, I just saw X2." And the officer is gonna be like "no movie can be that good." Chance jr will say "believe it, this movie kicks mother f***ing ass, beotch!"

Ok, this is what summer movies are about. It had it all, Action, drama, suspence, comedy, romance, betrayel, and tragedy. They have been promising us that this movie will be bigger and better than the first and they are telling the truth. In fact, they made promises and kept them. How many politicians do that? None, that's why I'm ready to lead a revolution that will put Bryan Singer and the cast of X2 in charge of the world. Ok, that's a little overboard, but you get where I'm going with this.

The pace of the movie is great. They just throw you into the action with one audacious opening sequence that some people would think that with terrorism and what not, should not be allowed. F them, the special effects were great. Bring a couple of changes of underwear because you are gonna crap you pants more than once. I can use the old roller coaster analogy because it's true. It's like modern rides where after you are strapped in, the thing takes off super fast and then comes to halt so that it can climb up the first big hill and then clank, clank, clank, clank, aaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!

The story is great. What the villian, Stryker has planned is scary. This guy is so freaking evil and I don't mean that in old timey "tying a damsel the train tracks" way. He thinks that he is doing the right thing, just like Magneto in the first. The story just builds and builds to the final and necessary showdown, please do not step out of the theatre for any reason, you don't want to miss a single second.

The acting was great. Jackman was born to play this role. Don't ask me how a rough neck like Wolverine can be played by a stage actor who was doing Oklahoma and other musicals before X-Men, it doesn't matter, he has got it nailed down. Brian Cox as William Stryker was great. He just does everything right, I mean the accent he speaks in, his mannerisms, the look on his eyes, everything is just done so damn well. Ian Mckellen could play Magneto in his sleep, thank God that he goes all out though. He has some of the most memorable lines from the film as well as some of the funniest. Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler was the perfect choice. You are gonna love Nightcrawler. He brings some serious heart to the film, and some comedy as well. There's a lot of comedy though, I was surprised at the number of jokes and one liners, but hell, if they make you laugh, then it is all gravy. None of these jokes fell flat.

I don't know how to talk more about the movie without giving anything away. Fellow comic fans/nerds/geeks, keep your eyes peeled. Pay attention to computer screens, xrays, and tv sets and you should spot some nice little nods to the comic.

I just want to say, that attack on the mansion was one of the best scenes in movies I have ever watched. If you've checked out the previews, you know that some troops pick the wrong house to mess with. Good thing Wolverine was there to show them some adamantium laced hospitality. Spider-Man was cool, but Tobey Maguire just didn't get the Spidey part down as well as he did the Peter Parker side. In this movie though, Jackman hits a grand slam in bringing the comic book version of his character to life. This is where Wolverine is Wolverine, you can tell this guy is well trained and just the best there is at whe he does. What does he do, you'll have to watch to find out. Here's a hint, SNIKT!!!!

There are definately not any lines like that. Storm drops the accent by the way. Damn, Halle Berry is hot.

Just got back. Damn. Double Damn. That movie stomped dick. My son had a good quote. He said, "The boring parts of this one are more boring than the boring parts of the first one." Which is true if you are 6. But if you are over about 12 that means there is more cerebral activity going on and you get to have things to think about rather than just enjoy the eye candy.

And boy is there a lot of eye candy. Rogue is still hot in a 'Junior in high scool' kinda way. Halle is Halle. Mystique is sexy in an odd reptilian manner. The special effects are remarkble. Every since T2 the advances in CGI work have been astronomical. The film is damn near believable in the fantastic. Wolverine is flat out ruthless. When he snaps, he SNAPS! He's practically beebopping to F4ck the Po-lice while he's exercising his admantium at the school. So often films shy away from the actual death of people. They did not do this in X2. That makes me happy. The director trusts his audience to know that this is fiction.

(ASIDE - You know how there was racism in movies like The Toy, Blazin' Saddles, and Smokey and the Bandit? I obviously don't condone racism but I appreciate a film that lets me see the ridiculousness of racism. Nowadays mainstream producers have turned into total p*****s when it comes to anything fringe. It's like they don't trust the audience. Or more exactly they trust that some offended idiot will sue. I guess I draw this parallel because if this film had been made 10 years ago you would not have seen Logan's claws rip through a cop. You would have had an A-Team-esque scene of all of the cops dusting themselves off and licking their wounds.)

Back on track - I absolutley LOVED the obvious play on 'hey mom & dad...I'm gay.' You gotta see the flick to get it but man was that funny and insightful. The parents reactions were perfect. The brother, too.

Great fights. All of the bad guys really are bad. I like that Magneto stayed true to form. We need to start a spoiler thread or turn this one into one to share more specifics.

    I can't F'n wait for Reloaded.

    Just saw it!

I know little about the XMEN but my brother filled me in. I think it is probably one of the top ten most entertaining movies of the year so far.

Here's the Chronicle's review. It hints at something important that I didn't want to give away, so be aware.

Just came back, damn, it was pretty damn good. I didnt really go in expecting much, cause if I do, I always become disappointed. But this is probably one of the best sequels in awhile. Got kinda confused on the whole plotline but later caught on. I also with Chance, I was a spoiled filled thread, cause there is alot of things I want to mention. Oh and another thing Colosus is THE MAN!!!!!! (unfortunatly, with a small part) :D

LOL. Is that good or bad? ;)

It seems like from everyone's reaction that X2 is better then the first. I was an avid reader of the X-Men comic books back in the day and I fell into the trap of expecting too much which left me a little disappointed in X1.

Saw it on Thursday night.....damn, what a freaking great movie! :D The last scene with the water was cool, although I had to explain to a friend what it meant.

Did anyone notice the following mutants in some scenes (according to imdb.com)...

    Shadowcat
    Jubiliee
    Colossus
    Siryn
    Beast
    Gambit

I saw all of them except Beast and Gambit.

Beast was on T.V. when Wolverine is in the bar. Dr. Henry McCoy (Beast) was being interviewed on a news chanel.

I don't know where Gambit came in though.....

This movie was freakin' AWSOME!!! If you're an X-fan, or just a comic book geek, you HAVE to see this movie inmediately!

Holy hell this movie was great. Lots of Wolverine, Nightcrawler kicks ass, better plot than the first movie, more dynamic interaction between all the characters...good and bad. It was well worth the wait.

    SPOILER

'Gambit' really didn't have a cameo. It was supposedly cut. But he does have a reference. On Stryker's computer, when Mystique finds 'Cerebro', there's a file named 'Remy LeBeau'.

    END SPOILER

Anyhow, this movie was damn good. Lot of fun, even better than the first.

Yeah, there was supposed to be a Gambit cameo, but the scene was cut, I think that means that Singer is planning on bringing him into the fold for the next one, so instead of having some stuntman in there, he'll wait for the 3rd so that he can bring in an actor he wants for the role.

I really liked the first movie and I can't wait to see this one.

But you know, when you're really into something, a lot of little things bug you, like:

    1. Wolverine is taller than everyone else. In the comics he's shorter than everyone else.

    2. Wolverine has no idea who Sabretooth is, and he acts way more compassionate than he does in the comics (example from 1st movie: Rogue sneaks up on him while he's sleeping, he stabs her, and he goes: "oh my god" or something, and in the comics there's no doubt it would be more like "what the hell, you friggin' idiot!").

    3. Beast isn't a featured character, as he is at pretty much every stage of the X-men storyline in the comics.

    4. Jean Grey's haircolor is way off (is there a reason for this!?).

    5. Sabretooth is an incoherent imbecile, while he's a huge smartass in the comics.

    6. Mystique runs around naked.

    7. Toad has an extra-long and strong tongue, while in the comics he's just some crazy scientist who made himself really springy shoes (I'm not joking).

Does this stuff bug anyone else, or is it just me?

Still, X-men was way better than Spiderman, where they basically changed a lot of the fundamental aspects of the storyline and character personality (WAY too much to get into). Overall though, I was shocked at how good the first X-men was. Can't wait to see X2!

    Exactly, Shady!

Okay, just wanted to add something here, because I know almost nothing about the comics. I thought the first movie was okay, a good popcorn film, but X2 completely blew me away last night. An incredibly fun film with top notch writing, directing and acting. The writing and acting are especially surprising for this genre. X2 completely woke the inner child up for me. I got home and was all like imagining I was magneto moving crap around. :D

First, yeah...Beast is there (being interviewed on tv for a brief second as Dr. Hank McCoy, and not in 'beast' form). And you know the story with Gambit. I was pleasantly surprised with the appearances of the other characters you mentioned, especially Colossus.

But overall, man I have to say I was blown away with this one. Sure not everyone got equal screen time (Cyclops and Rogue might as well have not been in this one), but at least no one or nothing was left out. Of course, being a fan of X-Men I have no problems with the movie. But those not already familiar with the series may feel like they're being thrown and not given much to work with. It's definitely worth the ticket price, however...or at least sneaking into.;)

    MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD

One thing I can't forget about the movie is what they decided to do with Jean Grey's character. She basically gets her own subplot. But for those that have seen the movie, is it something the movie could have done without...seeing as how mostly fans of the series will understand/appreciate? For those who know what I'm talking about, was it a good idea to bring in the 'Phoenix' so soon? Either way, I was pleased with how it was handled.
