They have a system (i.e. Jerry Sloan) and know what they want, rather than changing a coach every few years and implement a new plan. Sloan is tough so they are tough.

They generally draft wisely and find guys who fit into what they do.

Sloan and owner Larry Miller are typically frank when discussing players. They don't go around saying things like "We love Bonzi!"

    Their players are generally likeable.

    Their home court is energetic.

    OH GOD NO!

I would never want this team to be like the Jazz...and when in the world did their players become "likeable"?

The only thing I would want is for our home court to be energetic like theirs.

Jerry Sloan spends 15 minutes a day teaching his players how to flop.

They've never won a championship under Sloan in his 21 years. Great coach, but he's not exactly a ringing endorsement of what it takes to really reach the top.

    how bout my spurs

    the team of the century

best fans in the legue sorry guys were a one team town and its all about the spurs here with die hard fans foreal and unfortuanally the cowboys

teams only hate us cause of bowen really

some cuz of ginobili cuz of his "flopping" but it's his desire to win if you haven't seen the spurs or him play alot

you have a classy coach like pop always talks good about other teams and treats tim duncan like the 12th man

the cavs sorta tried to model the franchise from us and look where there at....there better than the spurs

its not like the rockets are getting new coaches every year or two. they have had what 3 in the last 15 years and rick will probably stay at least a few more years.

Sloan does more with less than either of the last two Rockets coaches has had to work with.

If our guys played as hard and as mentally tough as the Jazz, we'd have a couple of WCF appearances and a ring in the last few years.

Yao Ming: works hard but is mentally weak, gets intimidated, shrinks from contact, gets down on himself. Like the tiger in Life of Pi, allows opponents to teach him that he's a beta. Epitaph: A work ethic is no substitute for an alpha personality.

Tracy McGrady: an athletic narcissist, plays like an artist instead of a warrior, goes into a funk when his art isn't up to his personal standards, has coasted on talent for years (taking off possessions, quarters, games) and now doesn't know what to do when his talent isn't enough and he really has to work. Just plain lacks the meanness of Kobe Bryant.

Everyone around the league seems to have a tremendous amount of respect for Jerry Sloan but his players always seem to play with dirty tendencies. They flop, foul and push guys in the back for rebounds instead of boxing out.

If those are the things he talks about in training camp then i hope he never gets back to the finals or gets COY.

Sloan is a very tough coach. His teams always go out and play tough. I am not sure how he would do with Tracy or Yao because of their lack of mental toughness. I do recall not that long ago when AK47 was literally crying in practices and talking about retirement. I think he might ship both Yao and Tmac out because they do not fit his style of play.

We don't agree on a lot, but I see what you're saying. What I see and really like about Utah and hve always liked are a few things.

They play 5 man basketball. Their system integrates everyone spurned by the pg. Its more than just the system, its the players and execution of it. The players believe in it and they draft and sign guys that fit. They als develop guys and they play very, very hard. They're very athletic at every position and they're not a big 3pt shooting team. Th offense is centered inside the the 3pt line. That's why they're always one of the highest scoring, highest fg%,fast breaking team in the league. They also have a hell of a scouting department to know that boozer and okur would become the players they are. Brewer,Miles, Williams, and even Koufus will be really good players also. They make sure the opposition has to guard everyone.

I've had more than a couple of moments this season where I wished we were more like the Jazz. I really respect how they never deviate from the system no matter who is missing from the lineup.
