I can't remember the last time that I washed my own car. With the abundance of hand car wash places popping up all over town it makes it pretty easy to get a quick quality wash. I used to find enjoyment in taking an hour or so out of my day to wash my own car but now would much rather drop $20 and not have to exert the energy in this heat. I guess I'd be more apt to do it myself when the weather cools down. I do stay away from the drive-thru car wash places like Bubbles and Mister Car Wash. I'd rather spend a little more to have the wash done by hand. You can get a good wash/detail (inside and out) job at these little privately owned hand car wash places for under $30 which is a pretty good deal.
There are not very many, if any, good quality hand wash places around where I live and I refuse to let a machine "swirl" the paint on my black car, so I wash my own car (and my wife's). I usually do a complete wash, clay bar, polish, and wax about every six months. I wash my car about once a week, with a regular wax about every six weeks.
I wash/wax/claybar my own as I take it to shows often. I'm not letting some minimum wage kid touch my car.
It seems like a lot of work to wash your own car... Its much easier paying someone and getting 3 people to work on your car at one time...
Just depends on if you just want dirt off your car or if you want your car to be cleaned properly - no swirls, no micro-scratches, etc. 3 people working on your car at once, using the same sponge they used on the muddy F350 they just finished, is not going to work for me.
Hardly ever wash our cars. Last time I took to my wife's through an automatic car was then vacuumed it myself. I need to start washing my own car though. I enjoy it.
two words: Pressure washer. Once I bought one I love washing my car. Getting a little work out and tan why jamming out is fun.
makes sense, I always see them dropping the washcloth on the floor then just picking it up and resuming the wash. That cant be good for your car...
I usually run mine through the carwash and clean the inside myself. I'll take my wifes car to the Car Wash and let them clean it by hand. $14.99
After I worked for Enterprise and got to experience washing cars in the middle of August while wearing a suit (when the porter was on his lunch break), I will never wash my own car again. There's a hand-wash place by my house that has half price Wednesdays. The car looks brand new inside and out for $15.
That's interesting. But wouldn't you have to rely on others to give you rides to the zip car lots to pick up the cars? And pick you up after you drop them off?
That's the beauty of Zipcar...the cars are parked all over the inner city. There are 3 different lots (with 3-4 cars each) each within 0.2 mile of my apartment...the closest of which is about 50 feet away.
I wash it every other week. Sometimes I pay a kid in my neighborhood to wash it for some change. I do take it to a place once a month so they can lift it up and pressure wash the under parts of the car.
That would probably be great for me if I lived in a city with them. We really only need our 2nd car once a week or less.
