I understand, but here's the solution:

    1) after peeing, turn on water
    2) if towel is in one of those receptacles with a lever, pull lever until towel is hanging out, ready to grab ... if no lever, skip this step (btw ... I freaking HATE air dryers - it's really hard to get out of a bathroom with clean hands when these are around, but I have ways)
    3) wash hands - leave water ON afterwards
    4) grab towel and dry hands
    5) turn water off WITH TOWEL IN HAND
    6) carry towel to door
    7) open door WITH TOWEL IN HAND
    8) if trash is near door, throw towel in trash can on way out - if not, throw towel on floor

Wow Freak, you are a freak. I don't do it religiously when I'm at home, but I do it 9 out of 10 times there too. It's not about touching your genitals, it's about touching everything else. I do it less cause I'm freaked out about scat germs than because I don't know who else has done what else in a public bathroom. I also shake hands with people a lot and it's a courtesy to have basically clean hands. I don't care too much about my own pee, but I really don't want to touch yours. Shaking hands, touching stair railings, et cetera, is one of the easiest ways to catch a cold too and I hate being sick. And also, I don't want to touch your pee (or your dick). Pet peeve of mine is when I'm at a bar playing pinball with someone and later run into them in the bathroom and find out they don't wash their hands. Far as I'm concerned, their pee and worse is on those flipper buttons. You're not just deciding not to wash your hands, you're deciding to put your junk on mine. I wash my hands whenever I'm near a sink. I prefer my hands to be clean, helps me miss out on a lot of colds and flus and it's a courtesy to everyone else.

p.s. Maybe my top peeve of all time is guys that pee on the toilet seat. Bad enough I've got to touch your pee when I play pinball, but do you really imagine anyone wants to sit in it?

Bravo. You are truly a kindred spirit. Agree 100% with everything.

I also fully endorse TheFreak's handwashing process, and utilize it myself all the time.
