    Two facts I think the blog post linking to a thinkprogress article about a private group lobbying the state is ignoring in favor of (admittedly well-deserved) historical stigma: Mississippi is 36% black, and has one of the highest numbers of black elected officials in the country. So I doubt these things will get made without a court ruling of some kind.
