I don't know if it counts, but I can't stand and watch an 80 year old man under the freeway with a missing leg or legs and not give him at least 10 bucks when I have money, but also, I can't stand to see a 30 something "white trash" dude asking for "gas money" cuz apperantly he doesn't have money for gas but he has money to buy a marker and paper to wirte "need gas money", man I hate those people and i usually tell them that i also need gas money that's why I have a job.

I freely offer myself as a spelling consultant. For example, "fortunete" is spelled "fortunate".

(unless you're in Quebec... maybe fortunete is all the rage there!)

Every winter I buy some blankets, socks, gloves, sweaters and other warm clothing from thrift stores and drive around town with a few friends to pass everything out to who ever needs it. We will some times sit and talk to them if they want.
You may be surprised at how many people seem to be more excited about us talking and listening to them than the blankets and stuff.

I've done the March of Dimes once. I was 11 years old and I walked 27 miles. I was so sore the next day that I couldn't even walk or go to school for that matter, but it was awesome.

I should. I haven't done much lately. Usually, if someone is getting a group together, then I'll be happy to participate. But I don't often go just volunteer somewhere by myself. I don't have that much money right now... I do a few things (Christmas presents for kids or something) but usually I'd rather donate my time and energy, so I won't screw up my bank account. I just don't get around to it much. :(

Two hours a week, every week. No exceptions. I was told that I was the best math tutor EVER at the place where I volunteer. A learning-disabled student who I began working with has increased his rate of progress over 500% since I began working with him.

It is very rewarding to see improvement in my students. Almost as rewarding as a good $200 spent at Treasures.

How exactly does one quantify "rate of progress?"

The number of math workbooks completed per week. 'Completed' means getting 100% of the questions correct and showing the scratch work on every question.

I usually do this around the holidays, although, I know I should do it more...:(

One thing I do every so often is give a homeless man some McDonalds or any restaurant money, instead of cash...I would rather them eat than drink...

Every Thanksgiving I volunteer at Superfeast or I deliver Meals on Wheels. During the year, I regularly deliver Meals on Wheels and volunteer doing art projects on Sunday afternoons with kids who are patients at Memorial Hermann hospital. It is very rewarding.
