I see a lot of folks denigrating Amen, and I'm kind of shocked. Once he moves back, it will be obvious.
He'll eventually end up being a top 3 player in the league.

Can you describe a Top 3 player in the league that played like how people think Amen should be played?

I really don’t understand what people think will happen if he “changed” position (whatever that means). Amen is putting up career highs in PPG and assists. So, if he moved to forward…he’d be putting up, what? I’m guessing his assists would dip and his scoring would remain pretty similar. Maybe there’s an argument that his defense would improve, but do people really think he’s become a 25+ ppg scorer with a simple position change? Be realistic. And Amen is my favorite player.

Amen is going to evolve into a hall of fame point whatever. His comp is Magic Johnson. I respect Plowman, but you don’t relegate that kind of talent to the “dunker spot”. He might end up being the best perimeter defensive player of all times. His improvement on free throw percentage is a clear indicator that he will improve as a shooter. Remember Magic couldn’t shoot to today’s standards even at the end of his career. He is a total of 22 games into his career as a starting part-time pg.

Ditto. Much respect. I'm saying he's more of a "Point Forward"...Amen is going to WILL us to great things, like he was starting to against GS before he got hurt.
I agree with almost everything you wrote, but see him as more like MJ w/o the J. If Wemby has the kind of shortened career I think, Amen will stack up DPOY's. Yep, Magic did indeed greatly improve his J.

Being a point forward has less to do with offensive game and more to do with defensive assignments anyway.
I think there is a decent argument that Amen is playing that role currently.

The projected difference entering the season would be FVV as an alternate facilitator to Amen - so reducing his primary initiator touches.

Defensively he'd still be on the best guard or wing primarily

Love the optimism. Would love for Amen to be a top 3 player in the mold of Giannis. As a smaller player he definitely needs to improve his shooting a lot more than Giannis for that to happen.

You've got to have another guy with him back there that can handle the ball and stick the J (and defend).... while playing major minutes. Reed will get there eventually.

Not really sure that you can be a top 3 player playing out of the dunker spot, but I get your point. Amen's learning pains are magnified due to them being uncharacteristic of his typically high IQ play - The TOs, and bad reads are part of the process of learning a new role. With that being said, he is still made grade strides this year even if his efficiency has dropped. Amen may become a top three player if he rounds out his game more because he could be an unguardable downhill force.

Unfortunately, a lot of posters here (even smart ones) don't understand this. This was going to be a huge learning curve for Amen, and we are seeing what that looks like so far this year. tbh though I would rather let Amen play off ball 100% of the time and have Reed run point full time, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

We shall see, just think the upcoming Drafts are just so good with wings that can do it all and have so much Offensive Upside.

For him just to edge out those guys and then all Centers......dang.
