Ok I want an honest opinion on this one. I know alot of you think this team can make it but with the current roster I dont think they have a chance. Rockets are weak on defense upfront, the injurys have caused alot of problems for this team. Right now at this point , the current roster they have I dont think they can make playoffs. I see HOuston heading back to the lottery. Unless rudy pulls off a minor or major deal then this team doesnt have a very good chance. Sorry for you people who think this team can actually make it. Rockets in my mind still dont have what it takes to make playoffs. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
I honestly feel like though it will be hard, if we can get The Rockets on the same page and enthusiastic about playing there is no reason we shouldn't be contending for at least the 8th space. ------------------
I think the Rockets are quite capable of making the playoffs with the roster they have, but I don't think they will. Once again, they just can't beat the teams they should beat. You realize that if the Rockets had beaten Boston, Seattle at home, Clippers twice, Nuggets at home, Warriors, and Sixers at home(choked big lead), they would be 29-17. All teams they SHOULD have beaten, and they didn't. I don't see the Rockets starting to beat the bad teams any time soon. No playoffs. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."

I've thought a lotto 'bout it and the answer is "NO!" Trade Dream. We should have done it last year. This is a business. Sentiment be damned. Not accepting that Toronto offer of last year still hurts. If you all love Dream so much, trade him to a contender and give him a shot at a title one more time. Damn, don't you think in your heart-of-hearts that Dream really wants to go somewhere else? Conveniently that would be better for the team as well. Know how to waster $16 Million? Wait on Webber! A Reef at SF is better than a very outside shot at Webber-- unless you know something that we don't. Aren't the NBA's tampering rules stringent? As far as the draft goes, get a defensive center who's not fragile. Who's not fragile? Ken Johnson? May be deserving from pick six on up. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. www.FlashAdvantage.com
Let me somewhat restate the question. For the next 36 games, can the Rockets play better basketball then 3 (or more) of these five teams: TWolves, Mavs, PHX, Denver or Seattle? PHX is currently #8 and on pace to win 47 games. For the Rockets to make it close (say 45-37), the Rocks will have to finish 23-13. I just don't see it happening. Agree with RichRocket- a defensive Center will be a big plus for 2001-2002. ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited February 03, 2001).]
zrb; understand that NO team can win all the games 'that they are suppose to win' - its impossible. even when the bulls won 71 games, i know the nuggets (35 wins that season) beat them and im sure at least another one of those losses were games they coulda have won. if you want to count all those games, then subtract every game you should have lost. gotta start thinking reasonably. ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
No, they are too young, and don't play defense. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?
thanks for the correction vj. wasnt toronto really bad back then (pre-carter)? ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
Oh No Nugzfan! Toronto was a contender back then!!! I think we lose to San Antonio tonight (they are just WAY too big for us and they always seem to beat us) and thay puts us 3 games below .500 Of course the schedule becomes a little "easier" for the rest of this month (easier than the Clippers?) - I figure if we can win 10 of our next 15 then we'd have to have some sort of playoff thoughts swirling around in our little heads wouldn't we? I haven't given up... yet..... ------------------

I dont think we will make it there is a pretty good chance we finish above 500, but still on the outside, just because we live in the west ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
Yes they were, as opposed to now where they are a mediocre team at best milking the fact that it plays in a weak conference. ------------------ President of the Charles Barkley fan club...Oh he retired? When?
I would say the Rockets have a 40% chance to make the playoffs. The only way I see them making it, is if they drastically change their outlook and put in efforts like they did tonight every night. Otherwise, they are a decent free agent and a draft pick away from the playoffs. In other words, next year. ------------------ http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/houstonrockets2000
well, that kinda proves my point then doesnt it? ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
Add a piece or two to the puzzle and we make it. Otherwise, we are lottery bound. I hope the offseason proves to be productive though, because if we don“t add those players now, and fail to grab Webber or maybe Mutombo, we might not make the playoffs next year either. ------------------ President of the Official Welcoming Committee for Shareef Abdur-Rahim!
Good point, although the bulls won 72 games that season. They also had two losses to the Raptors! ------------------ President of the Charles Barkley fan club...Oh he retired? When?
