    Specificially, do you think a team built around Steve Francis and Yao Ming have enough potential of becoming a championship team?

    I don't mean now because it looks like they don't even have the playoffs potential this season. :( I mean long term, 3-5 years later.

    You couldn't have started a more pointless thread if you tried...

    First, you already know what everyone will say given the overall pessimistic attitude after getting our asses handed to us by the Mavs...Post this same thread after the Laker game, and the results will be the exact opposite.

    Secondly, who knows what the hell this team will look like 3-4 years from now. Francis and Mobley might not even be on this team in 3 years...Long term planning in pro sports is an exercise in futility, because of all the uncertainties...

    1. Think long term. Then the present struggle may be not so bad.

    2. Build for the future. If you think your franchise players are not good enough to be championship caliber (not playoffs caliber), why bother to be stuck with them?
