Pretty simple question, do you think we can make the playoffs this year?

currently we stand at 3-9 with 70 games remaining, the competition has gotten tough by each passing year with 50 games needed to just make the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years (48 wins needed for the other year), and it looks like 50 might needed again.

We have to go 47-23 the rest of the way to win it and that means you gotta win 67% of the remaining games. Can it be done?

Like every year, yes if healthy.
I think we are still a chance if our players comes back and stays healthy which probably won't happen so no.

47-23 seems pretty lofty for a team struggling to find any identity

    i vote yes.

but it is going to be really hard (baring any trades). IF we can get the team to start playing together as a whole and drastically improve the defence then I would say we can do it.

Its going to be a 7/8th seed though even if we do make it. in that case, i reckon we probably will have more benefits if we missed it. again without a trade for a major piece, i would prefer this team to not make the playoffs. i reckon we would be better in the long run than to get knocked out of the playoffs in the first by lakes/spurs or the mavs with this current squad.

Question is do you want the rockets to make the playoffs this year? making it to playoffs means we might be getting knocked out of the the 1st round. we dont make it to the playoffs we have a lottery pick.

Before the season started, we need to win 61% of the games to be in the play-offs. It is not too much of a difference now, objective-wise. But performance-wise, that's what is needed to change.

No, what's different is that most other years, if healthy we were serious championship contenders. This year if healthy we might to sneak into the 8th seed and get bounced in the first round.

I think we still have lottery pick, because Knicks would fail to make the playoffs.

no unless something drastic happens, like a big trade or a new coach. IF this team is serious about making the playoffs, and i mean actually going far, then it needs to drastically step it up defensively. the only way i see this is if we trade for more defensive players or get a new coach...

if we want to be serious about going far, not just make the playoffs, then we also need to get bigger. our team is too small and there is no way of being able to contend with a team like the Lakers, Celtics, Magic, or even the Thunder in a seven game series. also we are very unatheltic. Scola is a liability defensively and i would be in favor of moving him for more athleitic and young bigs around the league league. (i.e. i would welcome a trade involving scola for serge ibaka and jeff green)

Is this thread meant to be funny or something. Obviously the Rockets are not going to make the playoffs when the current roster and staff. To even see the Rockets play the post season, a lot of changes must be made.

No matter, this is still OUR team. As long as they give their all out there on the court, I will continue to be proud of them.

I'm frustrated too, and I know they are too. What I want to see is they continue to grow and improve; each player expands their game. Baby steps . . . can't think of the play-offs for now.

Yes, I still believe they can. This stretch of games has been bad, but not enough to impact my belief in the talent level of this team to the point where I think they are no longer playoff-bound. They are getting close that borderline though where the deficit is going to be too hard to make up over the rest of the season.

If the question is merely, "can they make the playoffs" the answer has to be yes. They can. Far stranger things have happened.

If you're asking me if I think they will....the answer is no, sadly. We'd be asking them to probably post one of the two or three best records in the conference over the course of the next 70 games just to make the 8th seed. I don't see this bunch doing that. They are without identity. They are without the kind of player that can put a team on his back and move forward.

That's pretty obvious. Of course we are!

    Maybe, maybe no?
