Do you think the Jazz are the 2nd best team in the West after the Lakers?

5 straight comeback wins where they had a double digit halftime deficit and 5th straight game won where they were trailing by 18 points at some time during the game. Wins vs LAC, @MIA, @ORL, @ATL and @CHA.

And they get Okur back in a month

I would put them 3rd after the Hornets. The Hornet have beating good teams by a wider margin of points, plus obviously they are undefeated. It's a close race right now of course, Utah are hot as hell right now, let's see if they can keep it going because those games have been razor thin close.

....Hornets and Jazz, what do they have in common?

Why couldn't we keep our leads back when Brooks was running the point?

That just means they're good half a game. They might be the 2nd best story in the West. But a good team should be WINNING by 18, not trailing by 18 and snatching victory.

The Jazz are on an early season hot streak. Every year a pretender or two does this. By the end of the season, the Jazz definitely will NOT be the #2 seed in the West.

Jazz fans should enjoy this while it lasts. It must be thrilling for you, especially with these late comebacks.

    Jazz haters should be patient.

Jefferson's been a lot crappier than I thought he would be. The Jazz are getting lucky with the comebacks but are by no means top-4 quality in the West.

Portland sounds like it's in permanent limbo with the crippling (pun intended) news regarding Roy.

Dallas is doing worse than it should although I have not seen them yet this year.

San Antonio is doing better than last year although Duncan has not done so well this year. Most of it has been on Parker and Jefferson picking up the slack. Can't ever count them out with Duncan though.

Denver has had some great wins and awful losses. Inconsistency looks to be the name of the game with Carmelo continuing to lead them.

Really no one has asserted themselves as second horse in the West behind the Lakers. It's still up for grabs, and Houston has a chance to pounce.

I have no idea i'm just sick to death of these smart arse comebacks...I want someone to go on and smash them and make them pay for being slow out of the blocks.

They added Jefferson, Millsap, and Bell, and lost Boozer.

They are much bigger and better this year. I have them finishing second.

Right now, who's saying the Lakers are #1 in the west?! I know, wait til Bynum gets back. But if they don't break out of their doldrums before he gets back, they'll have dug too big of a hole to climb out of with the way the Mavs & Spurs are playing.

BTW, the Rockets are just resting AB & Yao til Bynum does come back, so they can kill the Lakers in the 2nd half!

Mavs and Spurs are definitely ahead of the Jazz. Lakers too, even though they aren't playing well right now. I'd also put the Thunder ahead of the Jazz since they own them.

The race for home-court in the West should be exciting this year.

That post was made in mid November, before the winning streak started. Although I'm still not sure it makes sense because they were 6-2 at the time.

The post you are repling to is a month old. Dallas was not on a 12 game win streak at that point. But right now the Mavs are playing like the best team in the NBA. They opened up the game against the Jazz last night 21 to 2. Tyson Chandler has played great and his great attitude has been infectious on that team. I hate to say it but the Mavs might be the best team in the NBA this season. Great outside shooting, great defense and bigs that can bang and rebound with or even better than what LAL has.
