I know we have a thread about how valuable the Knicks pick is. But, now that we've reached this point in the season, the question begets.

The Knicks have shown to be pretty horrible and while it's possible they could make the playoffs, as presently constructed they're a mess. Reasons abound as to why they lay in this state and others as to why they likely won't get out of the hole by playoff time.

    In mid construction
    D'Antoni
The need of a true point
    No depth
    nagging Melo injuries
    Amare's deferring

The Knicks will be much better down the road, but I'm pretty sure this season is cached. C'mon, they're counting on Davis to come back and save them while providing cohesion? He's a jacker too. There is also the matter of the upcoming brutal part of their schedule. Toss in the very real possibility of one of the four/or a combo of them going down, missing extensive games and it's a recipe that tastes pretty good to a Rockets fan. This could very easily turn into a 6-9 pick.

All that said,, there is still a possibility that these jokers could slide into the back end of the pathetic Eastern Conference. There IS some high end talent on that team and a move for another player is certainly not out of the question. (although it would be interesting to see them try to pull that off)

Now, knowing Morey as we do, I'd say there is a very good chance that he covers his shorts, locking in our profits. It's the % play .... his modus operandi. And I agree. While shorting the Knicks is a fiendish delight, at some point you have to know when to say enough is enough. I'm saying the pick gets dealt before the deadline.

So, what do you think ? Does the pick get dealt before the deadline or do we shoot the moon?

Yes, I think he will include it as an enhancer in a trade with our 09ers.

    I voted no

I just don't see the rockets doing anything other than a minor move. I just dont see a deal out there that would warrent involving what could be a pretty valuable asset IMHO. Of course that being said New York will probably win the lottery and we'll end up with jack, but I think we roll the dice on being players in this draft(packaging picks/players for higher pick star player)

If Morey makes a deal before the deadline, its hard to imagine that this pick doesn't get included.

Only if it's a big trade.

Otherwise he'll hold on to get a Top 10 pick.

Rox pick will be more valuable by Secaucus day than Knixies pick (more's the pity). Thus, DM the GM will absolutely/positively trade the pick in a blockbuster, or not at all.

I hope not. The only way I would be okay with losing it is if it's for an all-in trade to rent Dwight.

NO to Deron Williams (unless he and Dwight both come).

Agreed. But the deal must big in order to include the pick.

My bet is a big deal is unlikely though.

Doubtful, unless it involves both Howard or Dwill.

I don't get excited about Lord Morey's train of thought at the deadline anymore. Its all added up to this team, which really pissed me off last night.
Man this team needs some defense and attitude or none of it is going to matter.

    PS.

Nobody is going to trade their franchise player for our guys & the famed "Knicks pick". Just sayin.

I think he will. He will do whatever it takes to bring in a superstar. He already demonstrated that with the attempted Pau Gasol trade.

He will try to get better picks and that's it. We aren't making the playoffs this year.
