The more I read and hear I think Kobe is not going to be around for the Laker's dream team. That makes things very interesting in the West. Colorado is extremely victim favorable when it comes to sexual assualt, the evidence against him sounds credible so far, and the police say he tried to mislead them... it sounds like he is in big trouble.
who thought O.J. would get away with murder? i think Kobe plays next year, he's an athlete, we all know how that goes unless your name is Mike Tyson.
NBA won't suspend him unless he is convicted. Also, the judicial process is lengthy. So unless he pleads guilty or there is a plea bargain, he will play the whole season except for the games that collides with his court appearance.
I think he will play next season. Like another poster mentioned unless he's convicted i don't think the league would take any action against him.
Last time he was in Denver he put up 50 before the 4th and then Phil sat him. Think how much he is going to brutalize the Nuggs with this new found chip on his shoulder. Also, the opposite might happen; I mean every time he puts something in a hole in Col. he usually gets locked up so he might be a little gun-shy.
Ooo.... 911 calls being made from his house.... More evidence mounting.... this isn't in California either. Dude is going to Mike Tysonville.
Lol... Evidence of what? Kobe's lawyers said the trial would start at 4-6 months "at the absolute minimum". Kobe very well could miss part of the playoffs, the trial could happen next offseason, or it will happen next -year-. 12 to convict, 12 to acquit, < 12 for a hung jury. In the event of a hung jury, the DA can request a retrial, but some have speculated that it's not likely because costs would be prohibitive. The only way he gets jail time is if all 12 say "guilty". Bear in mind that Kobe's got peeps already profiling possible sympathetic juror categories and Kobe's lawyers will be able to approve a portion of the actual jurors that make it. Also bear in mind that his lawyers will surely appeal a guilty verdict. I think the most likely outcome is a hung jury, where Kobe is not completely exonerated. Doubtful the DA retries after losing the first time. After that, the inevitable civil suit where Katelyn goes against her claims that she doesn't want his $.
I really hate the Lakers and their excuses! They even had the nerve to complain that the refs were cheating for the T-Wolves in Rd. 1 of the playoffs this year! And who could forget the comments they made after they lost to the Rockets before? Saying it's a shame that the refs would call that flagrant on Shaq against Steve. For all they've accomplished, you'd think they could take one loss with maturity.
Count on Kobe Bryant playing.. He will only be affected short term by fewer endorsements. He will be forgiven by the media and pop culture. This incident will be forgotten in 2 years. He will be complaining later about this --that he was unfairly treated- greater degree of scrutiny or whatever. His trial should start December 13 - so as not to interfere with the playoffs - over before the all star break...
Are you sure? LA won that series by 17.5 ppg and won the last two games by 30 and 16. There was a big stink after Gm3 which the Wolves almost lost due to some late phantom calls that went LA's way. If anything, the Spurs and Kings fans were whining about their usual conspiracy theory stuff. The foul you mentioned on Shaq was no flagrant foul any way you cut it. In fact, it was rescinded by the league after the fact. I don't think that's why the Lakers lost that game though, but they did whine about it. After the 2 OT game in February, Steve Francis complained about the refs favoring the Lakers so turnabout's fair play. All teams and fanbases whine about the refs. Let's not kid ourselves.
Agree with the first 2 pts, but ideally, the all star week gets consumed during the trial so he misses as little as possible. I think this trial will last 3 weeks, a month tops. Since he admitted having sex with her, they won't have to waste time proving it.
Maybe it wasn't the T-Wolves series, but I do remember one series during the playoffs where the Lakers kept saying the refs were against them. I guess it was the SA series then.
A more accurate statement is he's rich, we all know how that goes. Its has nothing to do with being an athlete, the better lawyers and experts you hire, the better your chances, even for unknowns like me and you.
