Im getting scared. I much rather face SEA than DAL.
That is my personal opinion, but do you think JVG being the great strategist he is, has a plan on the path he wants us to take to the championship, or is he just concerned about winning every game we can to secure us a spot and even shoot for home court advantage???

I'm sure JVG would rather face certain teams rather than others in the first round, he's no fool. However, I don't see him throwing games to try to hang back to play one team instead of another.

JVG better start preparing for the Mavs, because that is who the Rockets are going to face.

unfortunately for us, it will be on the dallas floor for games 1,2, and 5,7 if needed.

I'm sure he cares some, but his main focus is to get the team playing up to it's capabilities. Throwing games is stupid because it totally messes up the mentality of the team. Fact is, the Rockets still need practice on closing out tough games.

I think he would like to play dallas because they will take the least amount of energy out of us. They are good, but not strong. We remain the freshest by playing dallas.

honestly van gundy will be over prepared if anything regardless of what team the rockets play in the playoffs i dont think its a problem that we face the mavs in the first round instead of the sonics.

I guess Jeff only cares how good we are. He will try to teach the players how to play like champ instead of a contender.
If our guards can be smart, it doesn't matter who we play with.

Just me bein' me but I can't imagine Van Gundy gives any consideration whatsoever as to who the Rockets face in Rnd 1. IMHO, he probably feels that if they come out with energy and execute the game plan...they are capable of beating anyone. It all comes down to whether the teams' mindset is the 4-0 West Coast swing team or the team that faced the Duncan-less Spurs last weekend.

Re-phrasing somewhat...the Rox opponent is not the Sonics or the Mavs...it is themselves.

Personally, I too, would feel more comfortable if we faced the Sonics in the first round.

We just match up better against them, and Yao could have a field day every game. I think we would take care of those guys easily, in 5 games.

The Mavericks is a scarier team, as they have so many weapons, especially Dirk, who will go off on us every game, considering we don't have anybody to guard him.

But as the season comes down to a close, I'm starting not to care anymore. Bring whoever on, and whatever happens, happens.

If the Rockets are contenders as some think, and in some cases some hope, they will beat whoever we face in the first round, whether it is the Sonics or the Mavs.

The series is tied 2-2 between the Rockets and Mavericks, even though the game without Dirk was a little too close for comfort.

As for Seattle, that series is tied 1-1 with one more to go.

We can beat either teams, really.

I'd rather play Seattle. Screw this going in hot on a winning trend talk. Playoff bball is all about matchups and so far we've had no answer for Nitwit.

Seattle is easier than Dallas but it's imperative for us to try and win every game. I do have a question how many more games do we have to win in order to clinch a playoff spot?

The Rockets have proven to be a very good and TOUGH team to beat. Just forget the fact that you're a Rockets fan for a second and let's be Objective and understand the fact that the ROCKETS are a very good ballclub right now and if they don't go far into the playoffs it's because of themselves.

I have league pass in Austin and tonight, the Portland commentators even said I quote "NO ONE wants to play Houston in the first round"

    I totally agree with them....

don't know why you all are so scared. The Rockets are a very good ball club right now and you've got to give credit to JVG for making the adjustments over the season to make it work.

The only reason the ROCKETS are NOT hailed as favorites (I prefer the underdog status anyways) is because they didn't come out of the gates Blazing at the beginning of the season like sonics and suns did.

Aside from the Spurs right now, I OBJECTIVELY think the ROCKETS are the second best team in the league (yes, even ahead of the HEAT if you factor in what the rockets can do on DEFENSE).

Who cares. It's possibly easier to pass 1st round against Sonics than Mavs, but it's also might be easier to go through Suns and Mavs than Spurs and Sonics.

Just win as much as possible and bo for the bigger prize.

I doubt we beat the Mavs in the first round (or later on in that matter). But we will give a tough time for any team we play.

The Mavs simply have the mismatches, offensive power, inside defensive presence, and Dirk (who no one can guard on our team) and that scares the s**t out of me.

The Sonics will be very tough as well, and I think anyone that is saying the Rox would beat them in 5 or something rediculous like that does not understand that we ARE by far an underdog.

The Rox will be underdog pretty much throughout the playoffs.

I won't be too disappointed if they lose in the 1st round to the Mavs, but would be more pissed if they lost to the Sonics in the first round.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't matter who we play... maybe not the SPURS? But we are not scared of SPURS!!! I bet they don't want to see us any more than we want to see them in the 1st round.

Bottom line is we will not likely see the SPURS until the second round anyway.... The SPURS are 4 + games ahead of SEATTLE , SEATTLE has 7 of 11 games left play against teams with + records and the SPURS have 6 of 11 games left .

I would put $$$ on a Spurs team without Tim Duncan anyday, over a fully healty SEATTLE team anyday to finish ahead.

The Rockets are on the way up... Bright future....................

    I ask myself???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    1st. round win???????????? Gauranteed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    2nd. round win??????????? 50/50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3rd round win???????????? No gaurantee on 2nd round!!!

Hell, I never post, but this a team I feel has the core to win the ROCKETS that 3rd championship real soon...

So to all that are doubtful, it only gets better.
