Just wondering what everyone thinks. He is not working with Shaq but that could be different with Yao and a different system than Terry Porter's.

you make great players fit in. he's a great player. and his game fits perfectly with yao.

artest/tracy do some post ups too with yao in the game, give those to amare. when yao's in the post, amare can hover around the free throw line for the jumper if the double is there. but hey with amare, they might play yao straight up more b/c of amare's lethal J and his ability to cut and finish.

AND the pick and roll. he's great at that play.

Depends if Tracy is healthy, pick and rolls between them two would be great. Also you'd have a post presence when Yao goes out, something surely everyone sees in the offense when Yao goes out; the offense gets stagnant and the 3's come pouring down.

I dont think he would fit in that great but I would still do the trade if you could get him. I don't see how he could make the team any worse so I would rather have him than Artest at this point.

That's a good attitude. Amare would have to play as a role paler to Yao: hit the open jumpers and cut and finish. He would still get numbers, especially rebounds 'coz yao would still box out other players.

Even if he doesn't he bring in excitement to the Toyota Center which has been lacking since SF3 left. I think we could make an all star PF fit if we wanted him to.

We need to deal Scola or Landry if Amare comes in.

Although his defense is questionable, its not hard to fit in an all star PF (not like as if we are getting a ball stopper PG or SG).

Landry would be included in any deal for Amare.

not only do I think he would fit in, I really feel we could get out of the 1st round even without TMac if we had Amare.

I would like to see Amare continue to work on his post-up game and his jump shot... as well as, of course, his defense.

Amare reminds me a lot of the guy who used to wear #34 here, minus the tenacious shot-blocking. Both were tremendous finishers and possessed a "whirling-dirvish" type offensive game. Amare may even have a better mid-range jump shot at this stage of his career.

However, Hakeem was able to add a new move to his aresenal each and every year until he started to decline. He had the fadeaway, and added the jump hook. He added the low-post fakes and spins. He added the pick and pop jump shot.

This is all assuming that Amare won't see much further decline due to the microfracture surgery. Regardless, you expect players to not be able to simply dunk the ball throughout their careers (which is why Yao has a very good chance of staying just as effective offensively for many years to come).

He complains about shots playing next to Shaq. All indications say that he wants to be the man. Adelman hasn't been much of a disciplinarian. We have no identity on offense as it is. He isn't the weak side shotblocker you may think he is...

I don't know... I think he could fit. I think he is an Adelman type guy. But Adelman hasn't instilled much.

I dont understand this move at all. PF is the deepest position on the team, they need to be going for a pg.

No, I don't think he fits in. I can't decide what's worse: gambling on a deal that has about a 50% chance of working right away or the way our rotation would look after a 4-for-1 deal.

Just get the deal done. Regardless if it is Amare or Carter, they bother give you WAY more than Artest at this point.

You talk about Amare's lack of D. What has Artest shown you this year that proves he is that defensive stopper we all assumed he was going to be??

He goes for the steal on every pass and 85% if the time he is a half step behind and gives up a layup or causes yao to get a foul.

GET Amare and bring in Ol' #34 to help out his game the same way you did with Yao.

Unlike Dream helping out with Yao's game, which didnt do anything because Yao is not the athlete Dream is or was, he could make a HUGE difference on Amare's defensive awareness and make him the inside shot blocking threat that we need.

We give up too many points in the paint for a team that has a 7'6 guy, now give us a 7'6 guy on one side and an athletic monster like Amare and we can start going after those passing lanes and playing more aggresive Defense

I think thats the way our rotation may look after this week. If rumors are true and we send Artest and 3 others out for some star player, we are going to have to go sign a player or bring a player up from the d-leauge messing up the rotation. Unless its Mike Miller for Ron Artest straight up or any other 1-1, 2-2, etc. deals.

We can't continue to give up two and three players for one. We will deplete the strength of this team which is depth. We need a 2/3 more than another 4/5. Our bigs are serviceable as is. We would have to give up Ron and with Grady in and out like he is, I can't see how that improves us to a point that it makes us contenders. Amare is super talented, but I wouldn't do the deal.
