I'm not sure what the proper etiquette for this is, but I typically do. Although I always make sure I'm wearing presentable socks (read: no holes) and I never put my feet up on the bulkhead if sitting in the first row.

Yes, although I'm normally covered by the blanket. I don't have any problem with others doing it as long has they don't have toe cheese....

Just too uncomfortable to be in a plane for 17 hours with out removing them / loosening them.

No. I'm afraid the air marshal might come and get me if I do.

As long as your feet don't smell.

I sat next to a Russian guy once that did this and had the worst foot odor imaginable. I think it's kind of gross, but can understand it on a longer flight or if you're not wearing comfortable shoes.

protip: don't go to the bathroom on a plane when you're only wearing socks

Longest flight I've been on in a while was 4.5 hours, so not typically.

Flying from Detroit to Cozumel next Saturday, which is like 5 hours. Still probably won't.

Overseas flights are the only time I've ever seen people with shoes off in a plane

Nope. It's in the news. Were that seat belt and do not take those shoes off. If you crash, you will want those shoes. I can't believe that guy recovered the drowned kid. Amazing.
