That woman that won the NYC primary again Crowley has it as part of her campaign. Not to end border security completely, but to go back to pre-9/11 when it was INS in charge.
So it's not "gaining steam" as much as some latina running for office had it as part of her campaign and now the usual suspects are using it as a talking point about how the liberals want open borders and unlimited MS-13 crime. It's pretty sad how cynical today's ridiculous politics have made people in this country, myself included certainliy. Everything has become an absurdity.
Per Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex Unhinged leftist have no business in politics. If you disagree with a law, you campaign to change it. One does not simply remove an entire organization because of a couple fundamental issues.
The seat is all but hers. The Republicans are not going to win this seat. She upset a well established Democrat who was expected to win.
I think unhinged conservatives have been running rampant through our government for a while now. As for Ocasio's position, she makes it clear that she has an issue with it under Trump. This isn't a cry for open-borders, it's pointing out that people don't like the idea of some government agency that has been very willy nilly with how they mete out justice. Also, she is campaigning to change the law? I think if you want to have an argument about if ICE is bad, that's fair...this is where the democratic argument starts. Many see ICE as a government agency that seems very willy nilly about who they are going after and that historically is very terrifying for some. I agree... https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/861 And this is seemingly the stance of Trump's administration as well. Unhinged conservatives exist in plenty among house and senate...
The better assumption is to her it’s not a couple of fundamental issues. Or the couple of fundamentals issue are extremely fundamental to the point where it should not exists. Or that it’s an evil and morally corrupt org... As I’m sure the issues are very important to the anti big gov folks that have called for and even some have introduced legislation to abolish gov dept such as commerce, education, energy, irs... But more importantly... Her free thoughts (freedom of speech thing) and her exercise of not just it, but actually doing something about it (getting in politic) is pretty much what the system allow for and even encourage.
More than a dozen U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents have signed a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen calling to eliminate ICE and shift its work to another bureau. At least 19 ICE investigators signed the letter to Nielsen, saying they were concerned that the Trump administration's crackdown on immigration was preventing them from carrying out the agency's other duties. Investigators "have been perceived as targeting undocumented aliens, instead of the transnational criminal organizations that facilitate cross border crimes impacting our communities and national security," the letter states. The agents who signed the letter are members of Homeland Security Investigations, a section of ICE. Agents in the division work on crimes like drug trafficking, cyber crimes and human smuggling, according to The New York Times. The agents suggested that Nielsen create a second bureau just for their investigations, and another for immigration detentions and deportations.
Hmm... seems trump and republicans that now appear to be trump followers want to eliminate the following: EPA, the Consumers Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Education, the Corporation of Public Broadcasting, the National Endowment of the Arts... The 19 federal agencies Trump wants to eliminate http://thehill.com/policy/finance/324408-the-19-federal-agencies-trump-wants-to-eliminate The 62 agencies and programs Trump wants to eliminate https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/03/16/what-does-trump-budget-eliminate/99223182/
If abolishing ICE causes conservative tears, it might be the right move. I think we've seen that's what policy discourse has become in the country now.
Pretty sure he is referring to that now being a popular Republican stance. Doesn't matter as long as liberals are upset.
