so my youngest tested positive on Wednesday... i stayed home with them all week... i started to feel crummy saturday, sure enough popped a positive sunday morning.... ive had covid once before (omicron surge Jan 2022) but the symptoms were literally just a cough whenever i tried to speak.... this time around it's insane upper respiratory issues, sinus pressure, runny/stuffy nose. Just awful. I'm a veteran of sinus issues/infections and I can say this is by far the worst case of rhinitis I've ever had. 0/10 do not recommend.
my parents went to St. Croix about two weeks ago. On their fourth day there they lost their appetite, but still felt OK. However, every day they got a little bit worse. by the time they got home they were just feeling a little bit rundown. However, after that the last week they have run fevers, each lost about 10 pounds and had pounding headaches. This subsided three or four days ago and they’ve just been super weak after that. So basically, they’ve been sick for about going on 10 or 11 days. And they definitely tested positive. so yeah, I don’t know whatever version of it that was, but it seemed pretty nasty.
Went to doctor on monday for something unrelated. tuesday AM Sore throat Fever, stuffiness.... wed - suffered through thu - tested for covid - positive. started paxlovid.
I had COVID ~3 months ago. Have been feeling run down for about a week and a half. My wife's 88 year-old father is flying in today. Took a test Tuesday and again today; both negative. Whew! Probably allergies.
I am sad to report that my sense of smell is finally coming back fully. I ran to look for a natural gas leak in the garage just now before figuring out that I had just smelled a dog fart for the first time in about a year. Dammit.
Pretty sure I read that the new Administration is going to end that program, so you best try to get them now.
CVS has free in house tests....I Have a cold now, gonna go ahead and test after Breakfast.....we have some immune compromised people coming to thanksgiving, which I will skip if I have it. DD
This administration is a weird one about covid fasho. The same duo (Trump/Abbott) that shutdown our state's non-essential businesses and required masks, now doesn't want to test, ey?
The best part was Trump and Abbott getting the jab more than any of us while minimizing Covid. On par with the brand. Maybe I should test again. I had the flu then got well for two weeks only to be sick again 1 day before Turkey and Tamales Day. 1st world, for now, problems,
Trump was weird about the mask (optics) but he was mostly level-headed on the vax. Desperately wanted credit for it even. But uh, the diehards only remember what they want. Selective brainwashing.
I have four kids all of them have been sick over the last couple weeks and two of them tested positive for strep while two of them tested positive for Covid. Oddly, none of the adults in the household, picked this up, including my parents and two friends that they had had staying over in the same general property.
My kids have been getting wrecked by RSV this year. Multiple cases already and we're not even into actual winter yet. Most docs are failing to test for it and are simply just saying "walking pneumonia". For the adults there's been this insane bronchitis going around. Like the kind of thing where you can't catch your breath and when you cough the snot comes out legit shaped like your bronchial tubes. Horrid.
I've had bronchitis for about 4 weeks now and am finally on the tail end. I thought it was allergies for awhile but then I started coughing ridiculous amounts of phlegm. So what is the response of my social media feed - articles about how non smokers are being diagnosed with lung cancer...and of course the guy from the article caught the cancer early because of a persistent cough he decided needed more attention.... https://scopeblog.stanford.edu/2024/10/16/never-smoker-lung-cancer-class-bryant-lin/
Cousin shows up today, there's 40 people in the place, half are over 60, "oh our special little angel has been sick for a week [kid coughs right then] but she's been doing better!" That kid and mom spent most of the afternoon out in the yard.
Have had a cough for nearly a week. Have not taken a COVID test. No one gives a **** anymore if you have COVID or a cold or the flu or whatever else is causing your cold like symptoms. I seem to remember predicting this exact state of affairs 4 years ago.
