I have to dissagree w/ you. JVG has turned the corner and changed his style of play. Im sure some of the "bandwagners" have jumpped back on this ship BUT i think the majorty of the board still dislikes JVG and his coaching tools.

P.S. Ill take the CHALLENGE! Of course a friendly one.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Allstar break is allmost here & this team is showing improvment. Yet i cant help but feel the majorty of this board would still like to see another coach join this team next season. While my "chanllenger" Fegwu belives JVG has turned the corner and is popular once again on this BBS. Please give us you pool and explination. THANKS

shawn

p.s. sorry about this bad spelling :)

I never did HATE him... he wasn't my first choice, but apparently we weren't the first choice of the guys I would have liked

(Larry Brown and the Pistons - Silas wanted to go the Cavs to coach Lebron)

I don't hate JVG. I'd love the idea that going back to the Knicks is his 'dream job', and that IT agrees (that JVG would be a dream come true).

well this is the thing, our losses early were so much more frustrating because they could be blamed mostly on coaching........now when we lose, you can tell the players are trying hard, they care, and they just lost cause of missing shots, or less talent, etc, you know, the more logical reasons, thus the losses are easier to tolerate.............and obviously that is because JVG has changed his style somewhat........

But he still hasnt really changed that much either. We have just gotten players that play faster. Barry and Wesley both run anyways. The only positive thing is JVG now lets TMAC do his thing........but our fast break and our offense still cant be confused with no Phoenix of Dallas either now.........And the Yao issue is another story.........the dude cant be averaging < 1 assist a game......he just shouldnt.........

JVG is more tolerable thats for sure........and most people dont hate him any more...........but i wouldnt say I like him that much either or wouldnt be happier to see another coach here..........

I respect and I appreciate JVG.

I believe in his system and what he is trying to accomplish here. Slowly but surely our center pieces, Yao & Mac, are begining to see the light as well.

Sure he has not been perfect but is there any coach out there who is perfect or even close? I visit other BSSes and I see how much he is respected and desired by others. He is a winner that has always gotten the best effort out of his players. He, his wife and daughter all love Houston and have taken to our beloved city well. He has shown respect to our Franchise as well as his predecessor Rudyt. And the best thing so far is that he continues to learn from his mistakes and evolve.

JVG is very okay with me. I believe we will surely win at least one championship with this throw back coach. More power to him.

I like JVG and while everyone has had their problems with him for one reason or the other you have to look at the bigger picture.

The man has shown that he can take a team with medicore talent and have them play well (i.e knicks) His slow it down, defense style of game while wins enough games in the regular season, really shines in the playoffs. Even though the rockets lost last year to the lakers 4-1 the series was very tough and could have easily gone to 7 games. The lakers at the time were clearly the better team and many predicted a sweep or a easy 5 game series(it wasnt an easy 5 games series for the lakers)

I think it will be the same this year, if the rockets make it into the playoffs they will be a much tougher opponent than anticipated because of JVG's attention to detail and his intese preparation for games.

And to add on if JVG gets fired who will replace him? I never believe in firing a coach without having a better coach replacing him. Right now the only coach out there I'd consider is Phil Jackson and he hasnt shown any indication of wanting to return to coaching. (Yes I know Rudy is now available but he probably will not be advised to coach because of his health conditions) Dont go crazy folks and demand JVG get fired only to have Ewing be the interim coach for the rest of the season.

Never hated him in the first place, even when all the haters were crowing when we were losing.

I still hate him. I tried to like him but I just can't. I don't like that he alienates players on his roster, that he never could make Yao and Francis mesh, that Yao's development seems to be stalling, that we play a boring brand of basketball, that our record isn't any better than it was under Rudy T, that he airs dirty laundry in the newspaper, and that he has a generally sour attitude. We can win the championship with him and I still won't like him.

i like JVG. It's odd to me that people talk about JVG limiting Yao's game but I think it's the opposite. Not many coaches if any at all preach inside out more than JVG. We started out slow but now we're playing much better. I don't see how you can blame JVG for Yao's lack of assists. The great players make it happend and put up regardless of who is coach. KG, Duncan, etc. are going to produce no matter who is coach.

Hate is a strong word. I think there should probably be more options in the poll.

(1) Hate
(2) Wish he weren't the Rockets Coach
(3) Glad he's the Rockets Coach.
(4) My Favorite.

This cracks me up.....so if you break up the back court frat party and get rid of one of the bad contracts signed by Rudy T and CD, make Yao play better defense, play TEAM first basketball, play TEAM defense, don't put up with any "I'm the team captain but I'm going to the super bowl anyway" crap from your supposed star player.......this makes you hate him? Or does it make us like the San Antonio Spurs? :D
