I love seeing the best of the best on the floor at the same time in the NBA, don't get me wrong. But I think that the NBA All-Star Game has run its course, at least in mid-season. I think that the NBA would be better served to hold the All-Star Weekend at the end of the season like the NFL. Many of my friends don't agree, they say that the Pro Bowl is a joke, they don't really play and that its just a free trip to Hawaii for the lucky players...... Well, they are right. Compared to the NBA All-Star Weekend, that seems about the same, with the exception of the trip to Hawaii. Instead we give it to cities that are already spoiled by the NBA and give them the sham that is the Dunk Contest, and 3-Ball? Sponsored by...who doesn't sponsor this crap? Why not make the NBA All-Star Weekend at the end of the season, eliminate everything but the main game, the rookie game and the three-point contest, add a skills challenge (any suggestions?), and move it to a cool place that isn't in this country? This would at least help in eliminating any shafts to plyers that deserve to be in the All-Star Game, and give the taste of the NBA to a place that doesn't normaly get to see such excitement, in addition to that, players wouldn't back out of events leaving us wondering why we voted for them in the first place. Just a thought.
I have always enjoyed the all star game in mid season, ALl Star Saturday should just be cancelled, Maybe have a Dunk Contest after the season or something.
I actually like the way things are schedhuled. Only dissapointment for me was the small number of teams in the tournament and the obvious things with the dunk contest.
They should just let everyone have fun. The 3 on 3 does that, the rock and jock jam does that, the three point still does that, the All star game still does that. The dunk contest does not. Even the contestants were frustrated. They need to just loosen it up a little and let the guys go out and have some fun with the dunks. Do you even need a winner for the dunk contest? I think everyone will know who won if you let them just go out and dunk.
