First of all, I'm a Rudy supporter since the days when the dream won his rings and I wish he can fully recover from Cancer and Rox have better season next year. After a season of roller coaster ride of Rockets up and downs, I can't help but have serious doubts about Rudy's ability. I know coaching change topics have been talk about a lot, sorry if this post seems redundant. I want your honest opinion on how you see Rudy T. Thanks
what's up with these polls where multiple selections are possible? it makes no sense. I checked all of the above.
I want Rudy to prove me wrong. Show me that you can implement a sophisticated offense that utilizes Yao and Francis. Stop depending on the ISO. Don't make your players shoot threes all day just because you have flash backs of the "dump it down to Hakeem" days. That means, Griff should be in the POST most of the time. Force Moochie to go to Weight Watchers. Bring back that thing called, "defense." Fine Francis $100 for every turnover.
I think this team will need Rudy in about 4 years, when he can lead them to the championship, but in the meantime they will need to learn the ropes on their own. I think this personal test will define how good they can become. Rudy isn't going to get them over this first hump. They are going to have to do this by themselves. But if they can figure that out, Rudy will get them over the next hump. I think Doug Collins would be the perfect man to bring in to assist Rudy, but that won't happen, so I think they are going to be learning on their own for a few years.
Rudy cant get through to his players! I mean there was a reason why he won 2 championships!! You have to bother a player till he learns that you run the team and your player doesnt! Example Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley!
I thought Rudy lost it in 98-99 when the Rockets had the most double digit losses of any playoffs team despite having a still good Pippen,Barkley and Hakeem. The at the beginning of 2000 i thought he was wrong when he used to have Walt Willams,Matt Bullard or Kenny Thomas at center in the 4th qts of some games.
If he can't get the players to respect that he's in charge and knows what he's doing that would pretty much equal = he can't get through to his players wouldn't it? If he was calling one game and they were playing another and he didn't bench them or move them elsewhere wouldn't that mean that he's not in control anymore? Just saying is all...
I like Rudy. I "want" him to be the coach for this team! I do. I want him to succeed! However, my faith in him has waned over the last year with the lack in improvement on the offense and player improvement. The most important things for me to see from Rudy and the players this summer and next year are: 1) Better offensive scheme with weakside movement, more cutting and passing and less ISO or stagnation. i.e. Players getting better shots. 2) Personal player improvements of Nachbar and Griffin. Nachbar a SOLID role player in the rotation and Griffin close to 10 and 10. If Rudy can accomplish those tasks then I will be very happy. But if not then perhaps it is time to move on so this team can improve and get better.
Get rid of thoes backroom boys off the bench and let another Team train them. We need professional experienced Assistant Coaches to cover the many weak areas of Rudy Ts coaching. We cant have the Larry Smith Saga happen ever again, please learn by the mistakes.
can't someone buy off somebody close to the players so we can get some real inside info? I am in the music business. Its really easy to get the dirt by asking around. Where do the agents, players, staff hang out? I have gone from believing in rudy t this spring, to not believing in him after seeing a teams like the pistons, whos talent is not much greater than ours, do so well. i guess i will give him half a season to see some gains. anyway, i just feel like we should be able to scrounge up some more insider info. What do you all think? Any Ideas?
Bill Walton for Coach Reasons he would be better than Rudy 1. Knows injuries and how not to prevent them (possible the worst ankles in the history of the NBA after Grant Hill) 2. Can recognize when a PG is driving the lane only to score rather than create. (Parker: 2 minutes ago) 3. Can recognize a terrible pass. (Parker: 1 minute ago) 4. Eddie Griffen will relate to his Long Strange Trip and may respond. 5. Is another former big man but earned his championships on the floor. 6. Is an eloquent speaker who can call a better game from the booth than Rudy has in years. 7. Saw right away that Yao would be a solid player even if he wasn't sure he should go #1. At least he's not one of the idiots who predicted bust. 8. Has that zen master thing going on in his personal life. 9. He knows he doesn't know it all and will bring in assistants who can cover for him. 10. Isn't afraid to hurt a players feelings with the truth.
Rudy's the Man. No ifs, no ands, no butts. Snuff said. (Although he could use some better assistants).
Everybody has to go!! I think CD should go with them too!!! He IS NOT a good GM at ALL!!! So Bye Bye!!
Rudy should stay. He's a great guy and he really has the fire to win. It is just sad when the coach wants it more than players do. CD is the one that needs to start trading and getting ruthless. Bring Jerry west!!!!
i never thought about doug collins. word is that he is gone w/ jordan. he has plenty of head coaching experience, so would he want to be an assistant? it would be good for us though. he seems to yell alot which i dont see rudy do. we would have the perfect good cop/bad cop coaching tandem.
