As the win streak goes on, ive been saving the newspapers from each win and putting them up on my wall. I try to keep the newspapers from historic events. I was just wondering if anyone else does it, and what you have in your collection. My collection isnt too big: my old man gave me Man walks on the moon (ny times) Challenger diaster (chronicle) ive saved both rockets championships (houston post, chronicle) 9/11 (ny times, usa today, wall st. journal, chronicle) astros adv. to the series (chronicle) Texans win their first game (chronicle) and the rockets current win streak.
I used to when I was younger. But then I realized everything is archived on the internet. (Like newspapers in full) Sometimes I take screenshots of big events on news sites and save them as jpegs.
i wanted to get a ny times 911 when it happened but i never could find one. i have a jfk paper from chicago day after he died. i have a BUNCH of magazines from 3-4 years ago when steve francis and yao ming were around. and then a few when tmac first got to the rockets. want to frame them one day when i get a game room where i live. have not been any that i have seen rockets magazine covers lately. i guess they just are not as popular as they were.
I have the papers from the first championship. A also have the front page of the Chronicle after the 2nd championship. The picture has the 2 trophies sitting side by side and Hakeem's autograph is on the ball portion of one trophy and Clyde's is on the other. It's nicely framed and hanging in my room.

That would be worth some major money right there. As I recall, the Rockets didn't draft Steve Francis they traded for him. eBay it!
I have articles of newspapers when the rockets came here for the first NBA game of the regular season in Mexico, it was in december 96. And some magazines from the 1st and second championships
I have them as far back as the two coin flips for Ralph and Hakeem and SI's from the Oiler-Charger playoff upset (the greatest game in Oiler history) and the Renfro AFC Championship game in Pittsburgh.
I have a pretty thick stack of Post/Chron sports sections from the '94 and '95 playoffs under my bed. They're yellow and smelly.
I have the Rockets 2 championship papers.. and the Sonics sweep in year 3 (everyone hates me for it, whatever...it was the last chapter to the story to me). The one after DK died (one of my fav's, pitched his no-no on my bday). The SI issue after UT's championship. Maybe some others...would have to go home and see
I have all the championship newspapers, and other important sports things for Houston. I've saved newspapers since I was young. My grandfather and great grandfather were newspaper columnists in Zanesville, Ohio and they passed on to me papers from WWI on. My strange collection is Stadium Beer/Soda Cups. I have all the cups from the championship years, and some older. I also have several Dome cups for Oilers and Astros. Thrift shops are wonderful places!
