A starting line-up of Brooks Martin Ariza Scola Yao is very intriguing. Ariza's defense would complement that starting line-up well. He is averaging 2 steals a game and still can score consistently. His defense (and offense) is better than Battier at this point. Not to mention, Courtney Lee not making much of an impact yet. If Rockets' FO weren't so busy trying to save money, we could actually have a winning record right now.
How can I regret something I had no part of? So no, I don't regret it, but I answered yes because I'll pretend the question is whether I'd prefer to have Ariza.
why would you talk about a lineup including Yao and Brooks? Seriously, incase you havent noticed we're not going to be very good when both are out.
Yes I am pissed.....because trading a starter for a bench player who plays 10 minutes is down right stupid. And we add another undersized SG..... We Suck At least Ariza migt have been a good package to get a star player.
How can I regret trading Trevor Ariza? I never traded Trevor Ariza. Or is this a thread that you're hoping Daryl Morey sees?
Considering I'd say Ariza is worth 4 "free points" per game via steals, we probably would have won 4 extra games so far already (LA, Golden State, San Antonio, and Chicago). That would make our record 7-3 coming into today. 7-4 after this lost to the Thunder. That's not even accounting for the fact that Ariza is better than Shane on offense, and better than him on defense. ROCKETS COULD BE 7-4 RIGHT NOW WITH ARIZA
i dont regret i never wanted him gone, like others have already said. it should be clear it was a salary dump now. courtney lee sucks so bad its not even funny...
Lol....count the 2 or 3 easy shots/layups he gives up when he gambles for those steals and doesnt get them and we're at the same place.
Yeah I do. His defense and scoring is missing. Every single night. His athleticism too. It was a money move so I am told. Somehow makes us better. I say we could have dumped someone like Battier for nothing much easier and had the same money move effect. Then trade away Jeffries and Brooks and had even bigger a money effect while getting better. Alot of ways this could have went. I have nothing against Battier but he cant get it done as a major role player on this team unless his role is that of Chuck Hayes coming off the bench and his starter is clearly better than he is. We might have to trade someone else at some other position like Brooks to make that happen. Nobody else wants Shane unless its as an expiring.
Don't regret moving him. Lee has looked close to worthless though... that part is very confusing to me. He's a better player than he has shown.
I have always disgreed to trade Ariza always. However, it's the time for the rockets to rebuild. If we can get a top 3 pick this season, it's not bad at all.
I know this game is impossible, but as a pure function of Shane's uselessness on offense and his defense not even being good this year, in terms of impact on the game Ariza has Shane beat, yes and I am counting for Ariza's gambles, missed FTs(at least he gets to the line unlike Shane so all FTs are positive), and ill-advised shots at some point (but that has died down since Martin got here)
He never meshed with the other players on the floor. Its not that he is a bad player, its just that he never made the Rockets better.
He averages the same number of rebounds and assists as Battier in more minutes. Battier gets a lot more blocks and Ariza gets a lot more steals. Ariza scores a little more, though even less efficiently than Battier, so that doesn't help us. And I really doubt he would be any more effective for us on defense than Battier. So...no
