Do you really think an 8th seed is embarrassing in the West? LOL.

Please. This isn't your grandparents playoff bracket.

Out West, it doesn't really matter what seed you have.

Any of these teams are capable of winning against any team. That can not be said about the Eastern Conference.

Embarrassing? no. But its been a very long time since a 8th seed went past the 2nd round.

Yes but in order for us to get the 8th see we have to play much better than we are now. If we do that we will deserve to be in the playoffs. Unlike any other team that has a shot at the 8th seed they did not dig themselves into such a hole. But if we get the 8th seed or better it mean we are finally jelling as a team and Yao is helping and Brooks is either helping or has been traded for someone else who is. If all of those things happen and we are betting all of the good teams down the stretch than bring on the Lakers. I like our chances.

No its not, but I'd rather have a lottery pick than be #8 in the playoff bracket

I can't condone tanking so It's fine with me. Good for the youngsters too.

It's even better if we end up with a better record than the Knicks.

We did that last year already. All we got was a D-league Starter.

Top 3-5 picks are the only that matter. So unless we can get one of those, and I think we're better than our record shows and better than the worst 5 teams, we should shoot for the playoffs. Gonna need to start a 22 steak again sometime soon tho.

Yeah, we have just beaten Lakers without Brooks Yao.

So even if we are 8th we should be fine cause the entire NBA knows we are favorites to beat them in the series.

But really, If I can choose between 8th seed and loterry I'd choose loterry any day

dude. seriously. Instead of enjoying the playoffs you'd rather be in a RANDOM CHANCE lottery and recruit an unproven commodity? Set to dream your days away on the perfect Rocket team. C'mon i can't even respond to this.

No, you go for it if you can get the 8th seed. Right now the rockets are not out of the race for this position yet even although we are playing so bad so far.

THANK YOU! For some reason people like to think Lottery Pick= star right out of college/ highscool with incredible Rookie of the year numbers. This almost never happens.

14th is just one pick out of the lottery.

In this year's thin draft its a top 5 pick or bust.

How many times has the 8th seed beat the first? And how did that team do in the next round?

It's not embarrassing, but we are going to have trouble beating the best team in the West in a 7 game series, whether it be the Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, they are number one for a reason and you don't want to have to go against them in the first round. We need to strive for the 4-5 seed because I think it will be our easiest path to the finals.

If you're just looking for something to make you feel better than by all means I agree the 8th seed is not as bad as it sounds. However, let's not get that confused with it being acceptable for our team to limp into the playoffs. Call me delusional, but I look for our team to be the best, to work for the number one spot in the conference. Anything less than that is a disappointment and should be used as motivation to become the best.

Trueroxfan, there is a difference between being good enough to be there and being perfect. Right now, we don't have the resoursces to be a perfect #1 seed (healthy players and confidence.) But to be in the playoffs, that's why they play the playoffs. If the #1 seed went to the Finals it would be like the BCS.

No way do I want anything to do with the 8th or 7th seeds in the West or 14th or 13th worst record. We have ZERO chance of beating the Lakers over a 7 game series, as currently constructed, so give me a shot at a top 5 pick anyday. This team was built to be top 6 or better in the West but anything below that would be a major disappointment and a quick first rd exit. If this team can get to .500 by New Years then we have a shot at 4-6 in the West but if we are still struggling...time to rebuild and use a HIGH draft pick for ourself or leverage in a deal.
