Not asking if you think we can, because I think we can. Spurs are a good matchup for us. But do really think it WILL happen?
SA's half court execution, defense and experience is their favor, but I would rather take on them vs the Clippers and a full strength OKC, or Memphis. I would give the Spurs a 60 percent chance of beating us in the playoffs. Our main concern are obviously the injuries to Howard and Beverley. Will they be fully healthy? Even if they are, it's going to take them time to get going to full speed. Let's hope for the best.
spurs would have the edge. 70% chance they would win. Playoffs are all about execution and I have a feeling that Dwight and Bev's injuries will slow them down a bit.
I'm actually not that scared of the Clippers after Griffin went out with back injuries. But OKC, I don't like playing against them, they get too many ref calls in their favor.
Yeah, I'd say ~60% chance in SA's favor. Would be an awesome season if we make the West Finals. CF appearances are historic when speaking of franchise success. Winning involves -win % -division titles -playoff appearances -CF appearances -Finals appearances -Rings It's hard to picture Spurs walking off the court because of us, but said the same in '95.
No but I'd rather play them than the LAC/OKC at full strength. We match up better against them than LAC/OKC/or even memphis as was mentioned before. Despite that don't get it twisted, the regular season wins were nice but this is a different spurs team we're seeing right now
I think we've got a chance but odds are against us. SA is all about execution down the stretch, so we need Harden and Dwight to be on their "A" game. Harden, I'm not so worried because he's usually a spur killer, it's Dwight getting pwned by Tim that I'm more concerned about.
Playoffs are a completely different animal. Spurs is an experienced team that takes care of the ball, is disciplined, and executes half-court offense well especially in a close game. They have a better coach as well. This Rockets team is inexperienced, turns the ball over at an alarming rate, is a bad free throw shooting team, and makes some really bad decisions. Put everything together and it can spell disaster against a methodical team like the Spurs. Advantage Spurs. For the Rockets to win a seven game series against the Spurs, Harden will have to have an EPIC series and Lin & Jones will have to make a solid contribution on offense. The team has a very slim margin for ever. There is hope because the team matches up very well against the Spurs. Harden has great games against the Spurs and Asik is getting in form and he does defend Duncan well. Also, Lin and Bev have done a somewhat decent job on Parker as well.
I think we will see the twin towers at least one game vs the spurs. If it works and stay disciplined, we will match up well with anyone including okc.
Sure if it was a one game playoff. Harden and Howard cannot beat the san Antonio spurs. Other players will have to step up and play their #*s off
really hate talking about a 2nd round series. Rockets still need to get passed the first round; there are no cake walks in the west. This thread has jinx all over it. The west playoffs are going to be on TNT!!!!!!!!! Rockets play like concentrated garbage on TNT. with that said, Yeah, I can see it.
The Rockets just recently within the past month started gelling. Yet, they had already beaten the Spurs 3 times.
SA is no match for Houston's youth, vitality and experience. SA are older, played longer into the post-season than Houston last year (more worn out), and do not have a solidified #1 closer.
I can't see us beating a well-coached, tested, and veteran team like that. But you never know - make them run with us and get them tired.
