I really wouldn't mind if we don't make the playoffs.. Of course I would like us to get a championship, but anything less would be a failure to my point of view. So just being real were not getting a championship this year and I would like us to get a better draft pick not saying tank thou. What do you guys think?
It would be nice to see us make a run, but the fact is that we weren't supposed to do anything this year anyway. I'd like to see us play well, and see Martin/Ariza/Brooks settle into their roles for next year.
It would be exciting to see a rematch of last years second round matchup. It would be great to see the rockets pull off what the warriors did to the mavericks a few years ago. That said the odds are stacked against us. If we were to miss the playoffs then we would still have a small chance at winning the lottery. Most years the talent dropoff after the 5th pick is huge so there is not a huge difference between the 11th pick and the 15th pick. So the rockets should do everything to win and make the playoffs but if they don't then it is no big deal. This truly is a win-win situation.
If the Rockets make the playoffs this year, that means they would be one of the hottest teams in basketball. Plus this would give the team yet another year of playoff experience.
No I do not. I prefer us to build for next year and hopefully get a higher pick. that does not mean I want us to tank.
Not this year, team started out incredibly well but has stumbled badly, would prefer they just pay to develop for next year with Yao back.
I do care about making the playoffs, but I won't be disappointed at all if we don't. If we do that only means that Martin and the new guys are gellin' like a fellon, which means we should be pretty dangerous come next season. If we do end up making the playoffs, I wouldn't worry about getting a mediocre draft position. I trust Morey can still make good trades and roster moves in the off season.
The season would be boring, but I would be willing to sacrifice that for the future of the team...so No.
if there was even a slight chance we COULD contend for the championship, then i would care. but i honestly don't think we do. with that said, i do like where this team is heading and what we can expect from the future when yao comes back!
It really hurts, because on one hand, you want to see this team do the best it can. But on the other hand, it really doesn't seem like we have a real chance of even getting out of the first round (regardless of who we play) this year. Also, if we don't make the playoffs, we want to get a high a pick as possible. I don't want to tank, per se, but I want to, at the same time. But to answer the question, I don't care about making the playoffs this year. Next year, however, is a completely different story.
The Rockets will be a completely different team next season with Yao coming back and possibly another big acquisistion, so there isn't a whole lot to gain from the playoffs unless we win it all. I understand there is playoff experience, but is there really much that can be gained from a one and done playing a role that you likely won't play in next year? Most of our rotation players have played in the playoffs already, except for Andersen and Budinger. As well, I'm not sure that losing in the first round is even positive experience. You don't want to get used to losing and make it a habit.
Nope...a lottery pick is another asset to throw at Toronto for Bosh. All I want is for the team to play hard, improve and set up next year.
Of course we care about making the playoffs - it's just not as much of an issue after a big trade. I'm okay with letting this team develop... but they better make some noise next year (esp. if Yao is back 100%).
Y'all are r****ded. Playoffs are fun, you get some spotlight, anything can happen, and deep down somewhere I know we still have that playoff grit just waiting to come out. Playoffs, right now, are pretty much ALL I care about.
