You know how I support Artist? Not by buying their music but making sure I pay to see them in concert and purchase something they are selling (Shirt, Stickers, buttons) That's the only thing they make money on anyways.
I don't see why Chris Hanson is in this thread. The title says Do you pay for music or download for free, not are you attracted to 13 year old girls?
"The feds is watching, *****s plottin to get me, will i survive, will i die? come on lets picture the possibility..."
I pay. iTunes, eMusic, brick and mortar retailers.... It's a simple thing really. If I want music that someone is selling, I find out the price, and if I think it's fair, I make the purchase. If I don't like the price or think the music isn't worth that price, I do without. There are plenty of places to hear music for free without any wrongdoing.
I pay if I really want to download something and keep it on my hard drive. However, I rarely download tracks. I'd say 20 a year, max. I primarily listen to music on Pandora. There's not much of an excuse for downloading without paying. Pretty much any reasoning behind downloading without paying could be applied to any product in existence.
incorrect. That's how the record labels make their bread. Most Artists make their money from merchandising and Events.
so artists don't make money from people buying their music? And a secondary question...if every one of a band's albums/tracks had absolutely zero sales: a) would that band have enough of a following for people to go to concerts/shows? b) would that band make any money in the end?
as I understand it, this is how it works, too. most artists see barely a fraction of the music sales, they make it up other ways.
