The thread on gun ownership had me wondering how many of the BBS members own guns. I've never owned a gun, but I was curious how many of you guys do.
I inherited a gun... it hasn't been fired in at least 25 years and is all gummed up. I have no ammo for it and keep it hidden from the kids. Not sure why I'm hanging onto it... I should clean it and sell it.
I never owned one. I never fired one. I was around one one time and it made me nervous. I was dating a woman that the guy who owned the gun wanted to date....
Shotgun guy myself. I don't particularly care for them, however, I've always believed that I should own one to protect my loved ones.
I'm not going to answer this question, and you can draw from that what you will, but I think most Americans my age have probably had the opportunity to inherit one or more of them.
Never owned one, but I have shot several and have gone hunting more than once. We very nearly acquired one when the wife was considering becoming a P.I., but now that we have a young'un I see it as highly unlikely that we will ever own one. EDIT: Barring the country banning them altogether. They would probably have to have some sort of grandfather clause and if they were going to take my right to buy one away, I would buy one before they passed said law.
At the moment I'm gunless, but my family had a bunch of guns while I was growing up. A partial list- 30-06 .357 .22 pistol two .22 rifles .12 gauge shot gun .20 gauge shot gun AR 15 Assorted BB and pellet guns
Red Rider BB Gun. I have shot a handgun once. I have never owned one, never will. You wouldn't want me to.
Nope, although I recently completed the Firearms Safety course, so I could go out and buy one if I wanted to.
9mm Baretta 357 (hamerless) 12 guage shotgon I probaby feel different than some of you, in that with a new baby in the house, I havent thought once about getting rid of any of my firearms. In fact, the wife is going to be taking a course so she can start carrying one around with her.
I don't own any real firearms. I do have a blankfiring replica from some theatre work I've done. If ever was to get a gun I would want something unique. I think I would want a 17th century musket, 2 dueling pistols, a colt .45 peacemaker with western holster. I might also want an 1873 Winchester repeating rifle, or replica of one. If you are going to own firearms I figure they should be something interesting.
Regardless of many of your opinions, having a shotgun in the house is a very respected and feared home defense weapon. The sound of a round being pumped into the chamber of a shotgun is very distinct. No criminal in his right mind would stick around your house after hearing the chambering of a 12 guage. If you can't keep the kiddies away from it, don't get it.
