What excites you about his game? I'd say 95% of the people who watch Basketball (Excluding China) and are not rockets fans probably aren't interested to watch Yao play and even if they do want to watch it's not because of his skill but rather to see how awkward it would be for a 7'6 player to play. I like to watch him because he makes the game look rather easy despite being 7'6. When he gets deep post position its over, although unathletic he can dominate the game with his skills and he plays hard and to top it off he's rather humble.
Not gonna lie, he's probably one of the least exciting players in the NBA. But I still like watching him play... <br> Do I wish we had a player of the same talent level who is actually exciting? Yes Am I content with what we have? Most definitely!
I think the same thing can be said of Tim Duncan not many posterizing dunks, just basic "easy" looking moves (NOT EASY) that get the Job Done, although Duncan is a far better athletically and better passer.
it is frustrating to watch Yao most of times. Knowing that he can dominate, I don't feel any fun by watching his missing rebounds, getting dunked on, missing jumpers or getting blocked in the 4th quarter.
Yes, he play the basketball the right way. He is just like many of us in a way. He doesn't have great talent but he works hard. he gives his all on the court. He is by far my favorite rockets.
Yes, when he's playing fundamentally he's one of the players I like to watch the most -- like Duncan. His game might be boring looking, but I appreciate his ability to pin his man, or to just position his defender in a place where Yao is gonna score easily. I also love when he goes baseline and dunks it, and when he does that awesome head fake and drives to the basket.
I love watching him play AB as well Wafer too Well shoot everyone in red as of lately except one guy I hope I will soon like that guy again what I do hate about Yao is that he cant get a damn call for him 80 percent of the time. that honestly makes me hate watching that part
No. He's slow, picks up stupid fouls, has lame dunks (when he actually does dunk), can't catch very well, doesn't block shots very well for someone that's 7'6, gets rejected by players nearly 2 feet shorter than him, denied by the rim and he's un-clutch when the games on the line. To top everything off when he DOES have a dominant game stat wise like 30+ points and 12+ rebounds with 2 blocks for example.. his impact on the game was actually very minimal and you'd think he had dominating game looking at the numbers but it's actually the most quietest 30/12 you'd have seen if you watched the game. I like the guy and he's a solid player but he's far from exciting to watch and down right embarassing at times and sometimes even repulsive.
There's been a handful of games this year where he's played great. He had a few of those games recently, before bumping his knee. I liked watching him play then. Seeing him make the same mistakes in the same situations in a lot of the other games is frustrating, though.
My sentiments exactly. As a Rockets fan, when Yao is on, he's fun to watch. When he is soft and clumsy, it is infuriating. When the refs don't call him fairly (which is almost every night), it drives me batty.
I like watching Yao play. The Art of the Post Game is so dead these days. It's rare to have a player that tall and as skilled as he is on the low post.
I love post up play, and I love guys who can dominate the zone with that authority. Sometimes oponents just can't stop him, I love that.
