So, are you excited, or dissappointed?

- Should we have made any trades?
- Should we have taken Woods instead of Nachbar?
- Should we have taken Grizzard instead of Mattox?
- Do you think Maddox will even make the team?

LOVE

THEM

ALL!

Excellent draft!

Btw, it is Maddox.

Maybe I wanted La Bomba, but Maddox is alright.

I have always wanted Yao.

Nachbar, I did not know much about but from what I hear his workout blew Rudy away. I was listening to NBA radio via the internet and I heard an interview with him and he sounded like he really wanted to be in Houston. I liked his attitude.

Maddox, I don't at all except for his ESPN draft/scouting report. Sounds like he could be a diamond in the rough.

EXCITED!!!!
Nope.
Nope.
I don't think it really mattered.
50/50 chance.

As for my other team, the Wizards, I'm still trying to figure out Dixon at #17. He'll be the Mateen Cleaves of this draft. Taken just because he's a popular pick in the city, and he'll end up sitting the bench. They obviously plan on making him a point guard, which is even more disturbing. Michael Jordan and Wes Unseld are complete IDIOTS when it comes to building a team. Okay, now that I got that off my chest, I think the foreign guy the Wizards took with the 40th pick will be better than Dixon. He looked like a younger Steve Nash.

I'm very excited about this upcoming season. We have holes filled with promising young players.

No...I think the Rockets essentially ended up with who they wanted all along.

Absolutely not. I was surprised as hell that Bostjan slipped to us. Picking up Nachbar is exciting. The possibility that he turns into a Peja is very intriguing.

Ehh...yeah. We should have taken Rod. But at least we didn't take George Williams.

Somebody please save Tierre. It will be a battle for Moochie's backup position. Hopefully Tierre proves to be more effective than Tito. They're both cool names - Tierre and Tito - but one's gotta go and I sure hope it's Maddux.

We made good, long range picks tonight in the first round. Definitely athletic with great shooting skills, lower defensive skills (except for height alone) and the most potential of the picks available. We chose to fill our most needed "spots" with the best talent available instead of choosing the best talent available in spots we have filled.

I give them an B+

I am absolutely PSYCHED with tonight! This team just got bigger, stronger, deeper, and more athletic, and more versatile. If Rice is healthy and in shape, then Nachbar gives us a big time weapon off the bench. This team should be able to score in bunches, and can rebound with anybody in the league with Griffin and Ming up front. This team is ready to go!

Well, those were the two who were on about 90% of the mock drafts. However, now that it has happened, I am guessing no trades are in the works, I am somehow underwhelmed.

I am really not familure with Nachbar, other than the thumbnails. Though I have problems with all three, when Woods, Borchardt and Rush were available, I hoped for one of them. But I am not really sure why. I know - Tankers 1, whiners 0. I guess I'm stuck on 0.

Tito Maddux - is he eledgible to play this year?, or is there a one year wait?

I think we did the right thing in taking Ming...no brainer IMO.
Nachbar seems like he'll be a great fit.... I was a little surprised he was there. One thought though...I really wanted defense also out of that 3 spot.
Drafting another point at 37,could mean a deal is in the works.
Overall,I'm ecstatic about the draft.

I like both first round picks and think they will eventually fit well with the talent we already have, and the game Rudy wants us to play. I don't know much about Maddox but I'd venture to say unless some one gets moved for future considerations he's going to have a hard time making the team (unless its the practice squad errrr injured reserve).

Would have preferred Ming/Woods (something tells me this was a BIG mistake, I don't know)/ Grizzard. Didn't see Maddox as a need.

Or , would Odom/Wilcox/Woods/Nachbar/Grizzard have looked better. 4 rookies, I know, but........

I will root for every player that plays for us though. I just think we're gonna look back in 2 to 3 years and say what the **** !?!?!?!?

I'm happy with all the 3 picks. Nachbar is more NBA ready than Woods, but Woods has the potential to become a special player in the league.

I'm very content with the darft. All the team missing, talent wise, is a defensive perimeter guy. I was hoping for a trade with Miami to get Butler(yeah right...) or for CJeffries to drop. I screamed when the Lakers took him. Those bastards!

I know very little about Maddox. I seem to recall Doc saying that the 2nd round pick of the Rockets would have a big impact on this team? Is this the guy they were eyeing??

Real glad Nachbar was still there. I was scared to death we would get woods. Nachbar is heads above woods.

Great Draft!

Right now I'm TOO pleased with Yao Ming to even be concerned about Tito Maddox. However, I am satisfied with him.

We got Yao and Nachbar the two players we wanted coming into the draft. It couldn't have worked out better.

BTW: I was at SRO on S. Gessner and the bartender seemed to be one of the few Ming supporters. It was rather quiet and empty for that place. You guys at the Official draft party got about 5 secs of camera time.....it was great hehehe.

Houston is bizak!!!!

A freaking plus of a draft.

We might have filled out our starting 5 of the next 7 years: Ming/Stevie/Cat/Nachbar/Griffin.

I think we made the right choice in Nachbar over Woods. When you slip from Top 3 to Number 21, it's not a Paul Pierce-like snub. Something's wrong.

As for Mattox, I think it's an odd pick. He'll be hard pressed to make the team, and, even if he does, he's the third string PG. You can get that as a free agent without wasting a pick. Grizz could be the backup 3 of the future when Rice retires and if TMo doesn't pan out. Jamal Sampson could have been the backup center of the future. Predrag Savovic could have been the backup shooting guard and would have made us a better shooting team -- maybe this means Oscar is staying.

Of course, any second round pick is a big "if," so the odd pick of Maddox doesn't lower the grade from A freaking plus. Odds are against any of the guys we passed on over Tito ever making the NBA, so it's really splitting hairs.

Potentially the best draft ever.

Of course, we did draft Jim Petersen in 1984 ... ;)

I think they took the business route with ming. It was all about the money, nobody outside of Houston thinks he will be much. Odom, Stoudemire, and whoever fell to 12 since we would have messed up phoenix plan with Amare looks better long term than Ming.

I was really disappointed with Nachbar considering Woods and Rush were still there. We really have nobody backing up Cat and if you were going to take a flyer on a 3 it should have been the 1 with the most upside

The selection of Maddox just tells me we are going to move Mooch

Overall, I think they just did what they thought they were supposed to do with the picks instead of really improving our team. I would have much rather walked away with Odom, Stoudemire, Woods, and Rush in the first round and Maddox would be fine in the second.

Maddox might turn out to be a steal,...plus if he pans out he could give us some decent back-up minutes at the 1 or the 2.
I am totally stoked!!!!!

I will root for every player that plays for us though. I just think we're gonna look back in 2 to 3 years and say what the **** !?!?!?!?

That's the best quote I've seen in awhile. Centers like Ming ( jump shooting) are easy to come by. The kid from Standford has just as much range. Anyone who thinks Ming is a shot blocker just because he's 7'5 has never played basketball. Being a shot blocker has more to do while altering shots as much actually blocking them. That comes from the fear factor your opponents feels. From reports from NBA players, Ming doesnt have it. I don't want to hear "ask Gary Payton and Vince Carter if he's a shot blocker". Because he looked terrible in that game. This was strickly a $ decision. As far as Nachbar, back-up at best. I've seen 2 games he's played in. Woods would have been the best pick. With Rice and KT he could have sat a learned for a couple of years and then finally hit the scene. Tito is a very good player, 1st round talent but if Moochie is not going to be traded why pick him. Grizzard would have been a much better fit. I feel Rudy and CD just wanted to hop on the international players bandwagon. How many titles have international players led their teams to??? I would expect a lot more for having #1 and #15 in the draft. I don;t think walking away with one definite would have been too much to ask for. Finally, anyone who thinks this is now Ming's team and not Steve's team is a pure idiot. The future of this team is resigning Steve and the development of Eddie. Everyone else are just pieces to the puzzel.
