Where were they from? I can imagine that some people don't know the exact countries? Mine are from Germany and Korea. There might also have been some sort of distantly related French ancestors.

I was thinking of this because I was reading about T-Mac's great initiative in Darfour and I was wondering if some of his ancestors might be from there and if that might be one of the reasons why he chose that as his charitable initiative.

I think Ethiopia just from physical traits and some evidence, but I'm not at all sure. It's really hard for most African Americans to figure out our ancestry, for obvious reasons.

Both sides of my family are fairly typical of the Sons of the Soil -- plurality Scots-Irish (a.k.a. Ulster Scots, Irish Protestant, Northern Irish), a fair bit of English and the rest of the UK, some German, no immigration here in the past 175+ years.

My aunt (mom's side) paid some ridiculous amount of money for a DNA ancestry testing and I think it was something like 85% Euro, 14% Native American & 1% African. So I am at least 7% native and .5% African.

As far as the European countries from which my ancestry is dominated...my surname is Scottish and we have traced pretty decently the migration to the US in the late 18th/early 19th century, by way of Ireland (kicked off of the original island by the king because the clan were border reivers and thus England's big enemies).

I also know there is a little French mixed in there from my mom's side. Beyond that I am unsure.

Iran all the way, as far as I know. But I'd rather refer to myself as Persian.
