Hi, I am a Chinese. In my country, Nearly all people accepted good education can speak a little English. We all like America, because it is full of vigor and vitality. But Do you understand my motherland?
What little I know about china comes from history class, martial arts movies and books. What other way do I have available to me? its not like I can just pickup and go visit for a few years to get the full story. Besides, until China achieves full openness, it is difficult for a Westerner to get a real feel for China. Tho I must admit the internet proves to be handy for talking to Chinese folks about their country...thanks to Yao for that. Most of you guys and girls wouldnt be here if it wasnt for Yao Ming.
You mentioned Yao Ming. That big guy with 2.26 meters height. He comes from Shanghai that is one of our biggest cities. We are proud of him when we saw him resisting Shaquille O'Neal alone.
of course I mentioned Yao Ming. He is the guy most responsible for exposing us here to more Chinese posters and lots of information about China in general. this is a good thing imo, since I and lots of others cant go and visit...we can at least talk to other country's people and learn about other countries thru the internet. Feel free to bring up whatever topic of discussion you would like, whether it be about us or your homeland. You will find most of us more than willing to discuss these topics with you. Welcome to the BBS.
It's good to hear they like America over there. Sometimes you aren't sure because of what you read, but that is good to hear that someone actually likes us a little bit. In my last semester of college I made it a priority to learn about Chinese history and government because I knew almost nothing about China and now I feel that I have a pretty good understanding of China and the Chinese people. Not to boast or anything, but I am proud that I have a competent understanding of what China is today and I sadly feel that I am in the minority of Americans. Most Americans do not understand China and what it is working for today. But I guess also a lot of Chinese probably do not understand America as well. Anyhow...glad to see you on Clutchcity
I saw the poll result just now and found that our history received three ballots. Actually, we own a long long history. Thus we must undertake more feelings than you. In fact, we young men all learn you. I know your Apple company's CEO Jobs and like him, though his character do not accord with our modest habit. Our long long history teach us to face to others modestly. Because we met many powerful folks in our history. I want to appreciate Internet which can let me to interflow you these friends in another part of the world conveniently.
I am glad to meet you owed a competent understanding of our country. I am willing to introduce every part of China to you and others. But my English level is poor. I hope you to correct my mistakes at any time.
ashinningpig, Welcome to the BBS. We have a BBS family photo album around here. We encourage all new members to submit their photos to the album.
Ok, I am wiling to submit my and my country pics to the album. You should be a administrator of Clutchcity? At the same time, I want to know how to submit my photos to the album? Have special album to submit photos?
That's right! & it's time for some of our senior members such as our beloved codell to resubmit their pics!
I don't know much about China, but would love to learn more...I have been to Hong Kong a couple of times on business and just loved it there...The people, the food, but as usual, after a while, Big Mac and Fries hit the spot... I read a lot about Asia (i.e. Sun Zui, Mushashi, etc.), so in general, I would love to learn and live in Asia at some point in my life...
Has anyone else here visited Hong Kong? I went in 96 while serving in the Navy and it was wonderfull. Welcome to the board ashinningpig.
I lived in China in 1978 for 9 months, 1981 for 6 months, 1983 for 4 months, and I visited in 1994 for about 1.5 months. My Dad lived in Beijing and Hong Kong from 1978-2000. China has changed a lot since I first lived there.
