    to be a racist?
Honest question. I see lately all this argument thrown around. "We are non white and therefore can't be racist." Plus it seems to be insinuated that even being white you are a possible racist and you should be more careful with your actions and words least you be accused of being one.

I apologise if it's a naive question but I don't come in this subforum often.
This has nothing to do with Trump just an observation I have made lately that this is a belief among many here and it is absurd in the eyes of someone from Europe.
Is this what most of America think nowadays?
I am just looking for some input to better understand the situation.

It's okay, you're not from America so you don't realize that the assumption is that the color of your skin determines if you are a racist or not. If you are white, you are automatically assumed to be racist, if the color of your skin is anything else then you can't possibly be a racist unless you don't have the same political views that you are "supposed to"....then you are essentially a white person and thus racist.

I know that's gotta sound weird to people from anywhere else in the world, but that's the assumption in the states. Of course it's stupid, but isn't that kind of what people think about Americans anyway?

Racist is the most overused word in this country these days. The left love to throw the word around. They love to label anyone who disagrees with their views as racist. Are there actual racist still in this world and this country?? Sure, some people have hate stamped into their hearts. You can't change what a person feels inside. Most racism in this country these days comes from the left. In there drive for tolerance they have managed to become the most intolerant group I have ever seen. We see racist groups like BLM being formed based solely on lies that the left never owns up to. We see absurd assumptions like anyone who voted for Trump is a racist. The intolerance from the left based on political correctness has gotten completely out of hand and has now warped a whole generation of young people whose parents did not teach them better.

Apparently the term "racist" has changed meaning in recent years, to include people who disagree with you on just about any topic. You can add "sexist" and "homophobe" to that list as well. It is much easier to call someone a racist, sexist or homophobe than it is to offer a factual rebuttal.

I'm not racist, I hate stupid people - and ignorance doesn't discriminate.

Being a racist in America, as far as politics goes, has to do with party abbreviation prefixes. If you say you want to shred ever major trade agreement that the US has and you are a D-prefixed politician or supporter thereof - then you are not racist. If you so much as remotely suggest you want to amend a trade agreement and you are an R-prefixed politician or supporter thereof - then you are a misogynist, bigot, xenophobe, racist, knuckle-dragger, mouth-breather, wife beater, etc, etc.

Build That Wall Chants at every rally. Ban Muslims when attacks from dark-skinned people are U.S. citizens and silence when white men do most attacking. Pigs, disgusting, nasty women.

Racism, hatred, sexism. tRUMP. Not Romney, not Obama, not Clinton. tRUMP.

I'm fairly certain he doesn't "hate" Trump.

I'm not certain however how he feels about you....

How does this work in real life?
If for example a latino is discriminating and throwing racial slurs to a black person or vice versa they can deny they are racist and noone calls them out? If someone of another race is verbally attacking with racial insults a white person they say they are not? With a straight face?
    What about the media?
Is in the american media only white ppl called racists always? Noone of another race?

You do realize that nearly 60 million people voted for Trump, and likely less than 1% of that went to his rallies, right? In short, saying you "saw a Trump supporter doing..." is completely ignorant, and can go the other way as well.

What has to do with this thread? Nothing.
I am trying to understand some american belief that is going over my head.

If I come to the USA as a tourist for example and a black/ latino whatever person calls me a name based on my race or calls me Eurotrash or whatever, that person isn't a racist in the eyes of his fellow americans? Tha'ts what I'm trying to understand.

1st question: they can say it but it isn't true. We call them out on it. I've been called ****** by Hispanic males while I was in uniform because I was dating a Latina woman.

2nd question: they can say it but it won't fly either.

3rd question: there is a "liberal" and a "conservative" media. Neither is particularly favorable for black people.

4th question: no, "conservative" media is quick to point out black racists. It's a common selling point.

I believe his point was that those states have higher than average Muslim populations... and swung to Donald Trump this time around.

Yes, you are much more likely to be a called a "honkey" or "cracker" (which I have been called, many times). "RUINED 'MA DAY!"

In real life it really depends on what kind of people you are around as to what will happen. As a rule of thumb though anyone who hurls racial slurs at black people is considered racist and people will call them out for it. If it is a white person hurling racial slurs at ANYONE then they are racist and will be called out for it. When it comes to anyone else hurling racial slurs at any group other than black people it's a toss up as to if people will even care. Sometimes if it is a Hispanic person and the media wants to make it a racial thing they'll just label them a "white Hispanic" which is simply them saying "racist Hispanic". Racial attacks on white people are almost always ignored.

For example, on election night, when it became obvious that Trump was going to win, how many times did we hear people blaming "stupid white people"? It's just culturally acceptable to say those types of things, but for example, if people said "stupid black people" the night Obama won then that would be branded as racist and seen as completely unacceptable. I mean, people would lose their jobs over it.

Honestly things are pretty jacked up over here when it comes to racial relations and it's gotten a LOT worse over the last decade.

I don't even know many racial slurs in english so maybe I wouldn't understand it anyway but I'm not asking because I plan to travel in the near future and I fear black ppl. Just trying to understand the common beliefs.
Thank you for your input above. I find it ridiculous that the latinos that called you names had even the audacity to deny their racism.

    Minorities can be racists, too.
